Do you remember what Iranian thugs did to Americans back in the late 70's (during the pathetic Carter administration). That was an act of war. We should have bombed Iram into oblivion then and there.

He's not totally wrong, certain countries would serve the world better as parking lots.

I never thought we were that arrogant. We're constantly making fun of ourselves in our entertainment, and constantly ranting on the internet about how bad we suck.

Like the Saudis, the holiest people in the world, who are increasingly bulldozing and destroying their own Islamic religious sites?

Yeah, it doesn't have to be one or the other. The Russian contribution was monumental, but it might have failed without American forces pushing from the other direction. Even if it wouldn't have, I think Western Europe was better off not being absorbed into the Soviet Bloc. Britain may have stayed largely independent, but the rest of Europe would have been screwed.

As far as this whole topic goes, you have arrogant people everywhere, not just in America. If there were an "arrogance index" to measure the arrogance of the populace of every nation on earth I doubt if the USA would top the list.

These Americans sound very much like the Aussies.

Seriously, folks, America is arrogant? Let's see....
Which part of the world has fought hundreds, if not thousands, of pointless, bloody wars? Which part of the world produced some of the most odious, murderous leaders? Which part of the world carved Asia, Africa, and the Americas into their own colonies? Where did the two most horrible wars in the world start? If you answered Europe, you would be correct.

Now, which country contributed its immense resources and military power to rescue Europe from itself? Which country defended Europe from Russian domination? Which country has guaranteed free flow of oil from the Middle East? Which country has contributed to peace and security in much of the world? If you answered America, you would be correct.

Similarly, which Nation was founded by a group of people willing to betray their countrymen and kill their friends for the moral high ground? Which Nation is the only one to have dropped a nuke in wartime? Which opponent of Russia left the entire world in fear of nuclear holocaust? Which country would blatantly lie to one of it's allies in the 21st century, just to save face? If you answered America, you would be correct.

It's not the arrogance that gets me, it's the lack of balance in America's self perception. No faults with America, not even the human ones. America has ethical faults bigger than the grand canyon. 'Get over it!'

Europe admit they are "Barstewards" through & through. Great, moralistic "Barstewards" mind. Self deprecating arrogance is weird.

And yes Iran, Iraq, Israel & Palestine are fantastic examples of why Britain should rule all these countries.

There was nothing illegal or immoral in nuking a legit military target which what both Hiroshima and Nagasaki were. If we had nuked Kyoto, you might have had a point, but Kyoto was scratched early on from the nuclear target list.

Please do recall it was the Japanese who started the Pacific war. The U.S. finished it.

It was legal & morally justifiable. Being loss of life & destruction, of anything, it was immoral. I already surmised that under human morality, though. Any person in the species could make that decision.

The point of my post was that I hear a lot of Americans complaining about European grey morality without acknowledging America's gray morality.
I feel a selective argument with a lot of Americans but, ruveyn, you've proven the exception to the rule.

I don't get why most other Americans are so damn arrogant and this is coming from another American. Not only are most of them arrogant but also xenophobic esspecially those from the south and mid west.A lot go to great lengths of saying I only buy American yet their cloths are made in China and most American flags are made in China they get pissed when I tell them that.

They are arrogant, mainly in the south and midwest, because of a terrible disease that they are plagued with called Christianity. Very few atheists or agnostics I know are arrogant, we are usually the most humble people that you are bound to meet. Amd those Christians who preach humility are always the most arrogant.

Either you're being sarcastic or you aren't as humble as you think you are.
