FYI Hopper & LKL:

Did you know that in the US, women are statistically likely to receive lesser sentences for the same crime as a man would regardless of the circumstances? I daresay that the law in general is an institution that both favors women and extends greater protection to them; which is why they turn to the law and to authority figures whenever they are threatened or even when there's somebody who they dislike and want to screw them over to advance themselves(after all, women ARE competitive and no less so than men). And furthermore, I honestly believe that a lot of these false accusations of stalking and using restraining orders to get rid of people they don't like is basically a modern, feminist incarnation of McCarthyism. That is, seeking power over others by manipulating authority(be it legal or citizen authority)is a strategy that certain women make use of.

and you don't see how that is in fact unbalanced in a culture/society where the man is expected to be the aggressor?

Oh, diddums.

And to think women suppose they have a problem where they're expected to put out, eh?

AspieRogue - you're obviously having a very bad time in your country. Whilst I would agree with what Vigilans said earlier - your attitude stinks - it's also obvious the US does not suit you. This cut throat competitiveness you see all around you, real or imagined, is doing you no favours.

In all seriousness, is there any chance you could emigrate?

Sorry? How am I posting "like a chivalrous white knight"? What makes you think that my posts on here will help me get laid? I am a feminist from personal experience and political belief.

So in your opinion the expectation on women to "put out" is equal to the expectation of the man being the aggressor?

There is also the "time difference" I may be strange, but I don't tend to "expect" women to "put out" the second I approach them, such expectations tend to be curtailed by their own social norms in an area, and to be largely "women made". As per the article http://search.bwh.harvard.edu/concourse ... exEcon.pdf

If we look at it, a male is expected to make initial contact with a female he is interested in, which signals his interest to her. If she shares an interest, she will reciprocate, and over time this displayed interest by her will create an expectation from him.

This is assuming of course that we're not dealing with a guy who walks around expecting every woman to come over and "service" him with no action taken on his part to initiate this service. *Sarcasm-Hyperbole sign*

What other countries would take me? It's actually very difficult for Americans to emigrate to Canada and other nations that are more cooperative. A big part of my attitude has to do with the society that I live in: Cut throat competition makes people nasty and belligerent.
But this really is about something much bigger than me and my own personal issues. And thus I will not answer anymore personal questions.

The way you *speak* Hopper makes you sound like you give women's interests precedence over men's interests despite the fact that you ARE a man(and not a woman)! So I find your attitude on this subject to be both irrational and obsequious. I am not promoting hatred of women, not at all. I am refusing to give them special treatment and social privileges simply for being female.

Ahhh feminism. again the lies of feminism rear their ugly head.

http://memesuk.co.uk/wp/feminism-meme/

Feminism. If it had anything to with equality it would be called equalitarianism.

Its about power and money and division between people. end of story.

Tis too true, DarkMage. And yet, money and power are what make the world go 'round. Those 2 things are desperately coveted by women as much as men. This issue truly shows how innately selfish human beings are: They push others down so that they might climb the social ladder.

But what I seek to do is to Unite autists of both sexes, and not divide them.

And THAT, Hopper & Vigilans, is why I go on these tirades against feminism!! ! Because I see "aspie feminism" as a divisive force being used against a tiny minority group with no power or social influence and no protection by politically correct liberals.

I don't think such matters can be easily untangled from personal experience.

I am a socialist. You may have noticed me banging on about it a few hundred times. As a socialist, I am a feminist. Now, I don't believe feminism (or anti-racism, or pro-gay rights, etc) make much sense outside of socialism, but where people are making those arguments, I will support them. I see that a certain advantage accorded to men is encoded through much of society. I disagree with such advantage, and look to point to such encoding. Where any advantage is seen as 'natural' - that is, not actually seen at all - any attempt to balance that advantage will be seen as 'unfair'.

I am not entirely sure what you see here as 'interests', men's or women's - perhaps you could elaborate? And how am I irrational, or obsequious? I see injustice, and side with others who do.

The situation I grew up in made me very aware of how women are conceived of socially and culturally and politically, and how it does them a disservice. It didn't take much from this to see how men are also conceived of, and how it does them a disservice. And so on. What's more, my Grandad (from his experience) was never in any doubt as to the capabilities of women, and this understanding was passed on to me, and illuminated how I saw things.

For the record, I have been married for 12 years, and Mrs Hopper is a very wonderful woman. What's more, I am more to the left on any number of issues - including feminism - than she is.

By "unite" you most likely mean "preventative buttrape"

An unlikely explanation. Everything gender related you post suggests you are a disgruntled male with poor abilities at talking to women, and an ego complex that leads you to believe the problem is with them and not you

I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. I meant that a woman stands to lose a lot more than a man, in terms of these expectations. A man is expected to approach a woman (assuming in this case he thinks he's picked up signals of her interest, rather than is wandering from woman to woman in a 'throw enough coconuts' kind of way) - if wrong, he'll get brushed off. Assuming his approaches are polite, at worst he may have to make an apology. A woman is expected to put out - she's just been as intimate as can be when really she did not want to.

And if they don't want to be united under your ideas? Why don't we all unite under a pro-feminist conception of Autist rights? See, you see your conception of things as right, and that the feminists are trying to ruin it because they're just plain awful, or something. Thing is, that might not be the case.

She doesn't really, the expectation to put out is not the requirement to put out. You're changing the premises of the argument. The discussion is about, which expectation is the most taxing on a person and is most frequently encountered by those which it affects. If I expect you to pay me $100.000 that doesn't mean I require you to do so.
