Where's your conviction for your non-belief? What are the conditions to your non-belief?

Best Regards,

Jake

Have you ever been bothered that someone was wrong about something? Like say, your friend believes that Sydney is the capital of Australia, even though it isn't. Don't you think you would try to correct them?

Now think about this: which of the following questions is more important, and how much more important is it?
(1.) What is the capital of Australia?
(2.) Under what conditions will I face an eternity of punishment after I die?
1. Canberra. 2.nope!

Maybe with your notion of god being an evil torturer who is so evil that he would torture even children for ever and ever frightens people into being so frightened of the existence of God, that your belief worrys them that they might be wrong, they hope to break your faith so they can feel less worried about facing a damned future.

This is particularly noticeable on forums for people that used to be in a religion but are now not.

Fact is, God is a God of Love, not an evil torturer.
The punishment for Adam and Eve who must be responsible for all subsequent sin wasnt burning alive in Hell, it was non existence,

19 By the sweat of your brow
you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
and to dust you will return.”
Hell just means hole in the ground, the grave, that is why Jesus is said to have gone to hell for 3 days, he wasnt tortured for 3 days, he was simply dead.

Even the valley of Gehenna from which the illustration of the second death comes from, only dead bodies of criminals were thrown in, no live ones were.

I can't tell if this is in reply to me or not, if so, I don't believe God is evil? It seems pretty bad to hold two people accountable for all evil, though.

(Also, people must not be very confident about their own beliefs, if they have to argue against mine to reassure themselves of anything.)

Some atheist will be funny and say "blessed"...

The Piraha tribe in the Amazon had never heard of religion, until missionaries were sent there in the 70s. Luckily they did not believe it and even ended up unconverting the missionary, he's now an atheist.

[quote="Cei"]Why try to convince people to be irreligious? /quote]

It is impolite to try to get inside of someone else's head. That is why attempts to convert are bad manners and persuasion should be limited to business interactions. What other people believe is really their own business provided their beliefs do not produce wrongful actions.

because religious people obviously can't keep their beliefs for them selves. it is all around you, all the time, loud and clear.

churches, mosques, synagogs, temples and what have you.

symbols like crosses, crescents etc. are everywhere too.

citations from holy books in the media, etc.

wars and conflicts. terrorism in the name of religion.

and the list goes on…

so why do you think atheist care?? they are just sick and tired of being confronted with this religious nonsense day and night…

it is in our face 24/7.

Exactly right. If the religious folk would practice their faiths quietly and -privately- we would not hear a peep from the atheists.

Even many of the more louder, strident (and some would say obnoxious) of the Internet atheists have absolutely no problem with people having private spiritual beliefs that are personal to them and they keep pretty much to themselves. Their issues start with it when it becomes public, political and/or violent.

Well, it just depends on the individual. Religion or lack of are both equally responsible for the state that society is in. Not all religions are "bad" or "good" It is not always black and white kind of a question. I hear a common meme of "Organized Religion" it is fair for me say Atheism is an religion, a religion of aesthetic pleasures and no objective moral compass and doing as you wish. The axe cuts both ways.

I can quote many Atheist of the top of my head and a quick Google search who are responsible for the destruction of society. Let's be fair in this discussion.

Best Regards,

Jake

My bad. Allow me to rephrase.

I firmly believe all organised religion to be a bad influence on society.

Atheism is not a religion, it is the lack of religion. What you are saying by calling Atheism is a religion is equivalent to saying that not collecting stamps is a hobby.
