yeah, and also to look within and see all the unmentionables, things we don't really see in ourselves and project onto others, or to understand prejudices and of course self doubt is like a closet full of demons, to be self aware of that is to become humble and see outside yourself without an ego attachment and then to take a good hard look and change what isn't working right is another process that can be very painful, but also makes you stronger if you follow through
oh and, i wonder how this guy would have looked within. Was he honest with himself? Could he even see his own flaws or do you think he thought he was right and had loads of confidence?
To do what he did would take confidence. I could never do something like that. My nerves alone would prevent it. I cannot get into the mindset.
I couldn't either. I have trouble stepping on a bug. Maybe self-doubt has its positive side.
Come to think of it most problems in the world may very well stem from people being too confident that they're right.
There was something he said - about time travel - in a video posted of him getting an award of some kind. It made me think he was completely out there, not in touch with reality, years before he did this. And yet he planned it all out in such detail. I would say that he had a vivid fantasy life, which can be a good thing, but that he didn't balance that with questioning his fantasies, which can be disastrous. Which was why I wondered if he was schizophrenic.
Shudder. I really don't want to try to crawl inside his head. I like inside my own better.
ETA: I have a feeling that Holmes will plead guilty and his defense will mostly be a matter of trying to avoid the death penalty.
