If anyone's looking to do YouTube bible study David Pawson's stuff is excellent. He actually addresses the OP in his 2nd Thessalonians video:

There's only a little bit I disagree with him on - ie. he's a full futurist for the book of Revelations, I'm 2/3 preterist but he gleans a lot of insightful stuff regarding each book.

regards to christianity v communism.

If we can say one thing about christianity, its that it doesnt advocate capitalism, AFAIK. If anything all that laissez faire objectivist sh** is closer to satanism, which is one reason I've never understood why christianity has a tendency to attract right wing d-bags.

In most societies religion is a tool used to preserve order. The current world order is run by global corporate capitalism. There's absolutely nothing in Christianity itself that promotes capitalism other than the fact that it's a religion.

It's not the religion, it's the people that are hypocrites. Christianity is based on a collection of largely apocryphal stories that were passed down orally and embellished upon for thousands of years before ever being written down. Leaders of each Christian sect "cherry-picks" its doctrines from the collection and imposes them on people, who will display their piety in a religious setting while robbing, raping and murdering their families and neighbors "in the name of God".

Other than that one small detail, I agree with you - Christianity is full of hypocrites, and Christians are full of hypocrisy ... well, they're full of something, anyway ...

Good enough to be quoted.
