The End Times were supposed to happen by 2000 AD.
The Mayan Long Count calendar had us in 'no time' after that.
The Long Count calendar now starts again ( as of Dec. 21 2012. )
We are in a new cycle now. A better one.
I hope you are right about it being a better cycle. I reckon it could be if we get back to a natural balance with the rest of the planet. The transition is the scary bit and baktuns (being long periods of time) have lonk transitions. None of us alive today will see the end of the transition

Having said that, Pope Francis is Jesuit and the Jesuit order wear black uniforms and the head of the order is often referred to (derogatorily) as the 'Black Pope'.
I can agree with the Italian descent of Pope Francis I qualifying him as 'Roman', I don't see any obvious connection to Peter and I do see that he is likely to be a very people-oriented pope fulfilling the 'succour' or 'pastoral' aspect of the prophecies.

I forgot about the current Eurozone crisis and the troubles in Italy itself (courtesy of the disssent that has brought Grillo to the fore). It certainly looks like a time of great tribulation is upon Italy, which aligns with St. Malachy prophecy.

I have foreboding! The long count is a hundred Sun Venus cycles, of 52 years, 5,200, A Sun or Age is five counts, 26.000 years, Then the Feathered Serpent returns.
As the Solar System bobs along around the galaxy it moves up and down crossing the galatic plane every 26,000 years, starting now.
Air burst meteor over Russia, another over the West Coast, now one over the East Coast, all in a month. We have entered the cosmic junkyard,
There is a cycle of mile wide craters on a 26,000 year cycle, where four out of five would strike the ocean. We are only seeing the first little ones, as we enter the debris ring.
Also, they seem small for the feathered serpent story, that seems more like a long period comet. Ison is, perhaps a return of the great daylight comet of the 1500s.
A 26,000 year comet would go out 1,000 AU, and not be seen before it passed the gas giants. Orbit relates to mass, it would be huge.
Our ancestors who emerge about 130,000 years ago claimed five ages, with this being the sixth. 5 x 26,000 fits the years of Sapiens.
