It's cathlolisism, what exactly can be done differently? it's a religion based on paganism...that persicutes any other religion including paganism. Includes an incomparable level of sexism and bigotry, spreads lies to the un-educated and has many a priest with a tendancy to go buggering the choir boys. Just to name a few things wrong with it.

Honestly I was hoping that a pope would never be chosen and the religion would die off like many before it.

Just give it time. Religions are declining and it is speeding up.

Another new old fart in the same smelly elevator of no actual power and relevance.

...Sorry, let me try that again.

As a notheist, His Holiness isn't of much relevance in the personal opinion of my skeptical eyes; I see society moving away from the shackles of religion, and hopefully reaching towards actual solutions, instead of remaining in a wonderfully inflexible doctrine.

i found out why they chose a pope from south america or at least why they chose one not from europe:

there are very few priests or clergymen living in europe because europe is getting so built up and urbanized.there are few places in europe where you can get good housing more then 500 meters from a school or playground

Now be fair. Not all priests are paedophiles. Cardinal O'Brien likes 'em a little older.

The fact that he has no relevance to you doesn't mean he doesn't have it for billions of catholics over the world. That gives him a lot of power, and allows him to influence even non-catholics

I'm not a Christian, but I do agree he does have a certain level of power and is able to influence people. They all push their homophobia across the world.

3/13/2013 20:13 inauguration. I knew the date was weird, thought about that upcoming several months ago but I didn't catch the 8:13 PM thing until I thought of it in military time.

That numerology crap is uttermost nonsense....

Perhaps but, I can't imagine a single way for them to try harder to make numerology happen. Were they thumbing their arses while looking at stop-watches?

Was it 20:13 Vatican time? What's the source?

I doubt we'll see anything other than the same old-same old on homosexuality and the ordination of women. Let's see if this Pope puts the rights and safety of children ahead of those of priests.

Is it wrong that I had to really look at that picture closely to see that it's not Joseph Ratzinger in civvy clothes?

Europe isn't producing enough Catholics because an increasing number of Europeans are totally and categorically rejecting God.

Religion can only really work its magic on the young, the fanatical, the people on the make and the poor. Without fear, shame and violence, which is the essence of the three Abrahamic religions, religion is doomed to ever-diminishing importance.

He is a religious leader. That means he means nothing to me.

Thats it?

He just has to be of Italian descent to be 'Peter the Roman'?

If thats the case then more than half the Popes were "Peter the Roman" already!

Yeah, pretty lame. Still, we'll see how interesting or boring life gets in the next three to six months.

I have to admit though, I'm kinda hoping under my breath that some of those 1.6 billion dollars in hollow-points bought by DHA are for people who are big enough jackasses to put at least a year of planning into trying to inauguration someone at 20:13 at 3/13/2013. That's gotta be in the top ten for dumbest things I've ever seen.

aren't you a bit old for numerological childish nonsense?

ruveyn

Ask the Vatican, most of these people are twice my age and then some.

Ask them WHAT?

If they are too old to play around with numerology?

You just advocated shooting them for IGNORING numerology!

I don't recommend shooting anyone - just expressing how stupid I think it is for people to cram events to fit a time sequence for numerology's sake.

How do you get that I think they ignored numerology? You have to work incredibly hard to get that specific time. For them to just land on that by chance is impossible.

To clarify my comment earlier:

Revelations 17:16 wrote:
And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

The ten kings or administrators which were previously under Mystery Babylon will revolt against her and destroy her. That was my reference regarding the 1.6 billion bullets. I had to clarify that before some incredibly dangerous misunderstandings just presented (ie. as quoted in my post immediately above this one) started taking on a life of their own.

The whole world in that situation will be an incredibly hot mess. The only thing that I can hope for at all is to live my life to the best of my ability, try to stay safe, and pray incessantly hoping that I can survive said period (or die even) with my soul still intact.
