I can't see a satan monument being tolerated in any state's capital, especially not a state like Oklahoma.
Maybe this will finally force the issue of the government favoring the Judeo-Christian religions over the rest. I mean, why not allow equal representation for ALL religions?
Whatever. It's Oklahoma's dogfight to settle.

Good point; I don't have a dog in this fight ... but it is fun to watch.*

It's kinda sad so many will oppose because this thing would make a fantabulous tourist attraction and we already have so many casinos. People really need to enlighten themselves already. Problem is, if it were approved and the monument came into existence, other states would want to get their piece of the action and start trying to get their own, too.

The Ten Commandments are obsolete.

I know

It's such a joke! How many men and women get a divorce in America? According to the Ten Commandments, you aren't supposed to ever divorce and remarry. It's considered adultery. You aren't even supposed to look at a man's wife with any kind of lust in your heart.
Are they prepared to make some sort of law making people stay married? I would for that because I think people should take marriage more seriously. The way it's just seen as a trip to the spa is ridiculous. They don't treat it like what it is, boring dullness meant to last your entire adult life. People think once they get bored with their partner, which most everyone does, eventually, it's okay to just divorce them and go on to the next. And cheating because you are bored in your marriage is a big no-no. Yet no one is prepared to say at least half of the population do not make good marriage partners and get divorced. That's just reality and no commandment is going to change that.

And lying, too. People lie all the time and gossip. It's like a National pass time. Think of how many magazines and newspapers would go out of business if a law were passed forbidding lying.

Anyway the Bible verse that comes to my mind is that after the resurrection we will become like the Angels who neither marry nor are given in marriage. To me that means that we will all become like one big family rather than exist as small and separated families. Unfortunately the abolishment of the small traditional marriage represents such a giant paradigm shift that conservative religious organizations fail to even consider any reality other than the Law of Moses and the Ten Commandments. To guard the institution of marriage an institution of jealousy is created and this institution of jealousy is required if you want to be a normal person.

As far as provision for the big family, everyone is provided for because all resources are shared and distributed according to need. Divorce is less of a problem because all that means is 1 person leaves the community. And since everyone is provided for under cradle to the grave socialism this becomes an infinitely superior system to prostitution.

I hope people will think about this before reacting. The first instinct is to consider it teen age shock product or to be thoroughly reviled and disgusted by such a proposal. What I hope is people will take this opportunity to examine their own thinking more thoroughly, religious folk of all creeds, Christians and Satanists alike. In what way do you take it too far? Yes, there are folks in all camps who do, including Muslims and in some case, Hindus who hate them. This is a chance to abandon such thinking and see such a statue for what it is - a goat-man sitting in a chair with a couple of kids beside him. Big deal.

It is an opportunity to gaze upon such a monument and see it for what it is, the way we should view all monuments and religion. Look upon it and feel nothing.

My personal opinion regarding stars is they're beautiful and miraculous. They are actually our parents in an indirect way. We are comprised of materials manufactured by various stars throughout their life stages.

The New Testament has the most famous star of all, leading people to an event regarded as miraculous.

Gosh!

There is a pentagon in the middle of that pentagram!

Does that mean that THE Pentagon is also 'Satanic'?

And ofcourse we all know about the pentagram that is built into the design of downtown Washington DC.

Informative article about tolerance and do gooders. Let's think about this. What really matters? What's the bottom line? It is about doing good things and having a better life that all might enjoy. The ends justify the means in this case.

Quote:
The existing Ten Commandments monument, donated to the Capitol Preservation Commission in 2009 by Mike Ritze, a representative of the Oklahoma State Legislature and ordained Southern Baptist Deacon, has raised the ire of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) who filed suit in August of 2013, noting that, “the monument stands alone, with no other monuments or memorials in the immediate vicinity.” Also of concern to the ACLU is the “self-evidently exclusive” religious message “that supports and endorses the faiths and creeds of some churches and sects.” We believe that in being allowed to place our monument within the proximity of the Ten Commandments monument, we can appease the ACLU’s concerns.

Is this what the framers of the constitution envisioned for our country, to have one religion stand out above all others, endorsed by the state, or, was this what they fled from when they claimed religious persecution in Europe?

So far the Satanic Temple has raised over $25,000 and their goal was only $20,000. They still have over a week left on their donation page.
Endorse freedom of religion and speech while expanding the narrow mental construct and donate any dollar amount:

Thanks everyone for your time and effort :)
