I really have my doubts that even in Christian theology that a so-called resurrection would be the end of the education, the play, the growth, etc..

Almost every mystic form of the three Abrahamic religions - whether Hebrew Kabbalah, Christian mysticism such as Rosicrucianism, the Sufis and Dervishes of Islam - all go hetrodox in their own ways. All of the above believe in a divine spark within that's augmenting us and bringing us on a path of return to god by the way of the heart. I know that at least the first two believe in reincarnation, chakras, astral and etheric bodies such as you'd have in the East and it seems like the Dervishes have a lot of those components albeit I don't enough to say whether they veer to a greater or lesser degree from the standard Quran interpretation. If those are the ends people need to go through to really practice active devotion - something's funky with the way we tend to interpret the texts.

The Book of Revelations (or the Revelations of John) seems to say such large and grand things - not only to the gifts of the overcomers of the particular seven church ages but also in respect to the nature of the Throne Room in Revelation 4 with the four animals/four elements of human psychological nature that what you seem to have on it's face is a note that the 4,000 years from Abraham through to today is only a tiny slice of what we're really looking at in the spiritual grand-scheme for humanity.

I remember a particular Jesuit was quoted often by Tom Horn in his Petrus Romanus book, a guy by the name of Renee Thibault who was a famous code-breaker. His claim was that God's redemptive plan would last 15,000 years. Ironically or not so ironically, that fits well with the Yuga model of the Hindus when grafted to the Platonic year - ie. 5 processions (5 x 2,160 years) worth of golden age, 7 processions worth of silver age, bronze age, iron age at the trough, then reparative bronze and silver ages leading back up to the next golden age. That is: 7 x 2,160 = 15,120. However that's not a narrative of one-time creation and end, it's a narrative of cycles either without end or until our solar system passes away in its natural sense.

For as much as many members here would say that all of the above is a load of pure rubbish and that science roundly disproves it all - the cohesiveness is staggering. Similarly it's a rather bizarre thing that for so many years we believed Mesopotamia to be the first civilization and we're finding things as or more sophisticated under ocean water around Japan, India, Cuba, etc.. not to mention Gobekli Tepe. I'm cautious about launching full face into a 'New Age' interpretation of all these things, just that it seems history would get slogged down in mythologism if largely passe on by oral tradition. That's why I'd consider the bible - both on the spiritual and historic symbolism level to be a very confusing text for those who'd try to read it on the literal.

For the religious and specifically Christians, they will be aware that Satan was cast down to earth and that this is literally hell. If you want, you can consider this as the material side of the coin (mind experiencing universe from a single body) as opposed to the spiritual side (consciousness freed from the reducing valve of the brain) which can be at least temporarily experienced through psychedelics, meditation and near-death states. Altered states of consciousness hint at a possible mind-free-from-body stage of existence which might await us after bodily death, even if for only a matter of minutes or seconds (which, without linear time, could seem like an eternity). From a literal, metaphysical and religious standpoint, and whether we chose it or not, we are already in hell. The possibility of the continuity of consciousness opens the door to the idea that physical life constitutes a embryonic or even comatose stage of consciousness. I enjoy reading about the esoteric and occult and one idea from that world is that life is spiritual death and death is a spiritual (re)birth.

That's just my current belief system, however, so please ignore it or incorporate it into your reality-tunnel if it helps you understand and cope with this seemingly pointless and irrational world.

I hear they have a beer volcano in hell, I kinda would like to see it for myself.
