We live in a heartless world.

I used to want to go to Japan until I learned that much of the country are full of racists, particularly against the Black race.

They even do Black Face to mock African Americans. And don't get me started on Resident Evil 5.

Capcom is so full of s**t.

The Japanese hate themselves to the point where they modify their eyes(called corrective eye surgery) to appear Caucasian or Westernized. Similar to Black people hating themselves so much they will modify their large, full lips, nose, perm/relax their hair, and even bleach their own skin(think Michael Jackson).

Still, these distasteful elements within the Japanese/Asian community do not justify the heinous execution by the hands of ISIS!

This thread is silly, and inane.

The two were picked because Japan pledged 60 million in aid to some other faction in Syria.

Like every culture, and like every individual human, the Japanese are full of contradictions.

They have good sides and bad aspects, and on balance are niether better, nor worse than any other nationality.

And even if they were somehow better than other nationalities it would not make the two more sacred than any one else.

And even if Japanese were somehow overall worse than other nationalities it wouldnt justify the crime by ISIS.

I never said they are worse than other nationalities.

I was saying that basically, they are not all angels or the nicest people.

They have flaws just like you and me.

Alot of people such as Japanophiles or Otakus treat them like gods.

Now that is inane and silly, right there.

Was addressing the crowd (both the Japanophobes, and the Japanophiles), with a special emphasis on the original poster for starting the whole irrelevent debate (irrelevent to the subject of crimes by ISIS). Not specifically you.

I think this song is quite relevant for this thread:

In Krakauer's account, the lone climber, (whom Krakauer believes to be Paljor) was still moaning and frostbitten from exposure over the night. The Japanese climbers ignored him and set out for the summit. After ascending the second step, they ran into the other two climbers, probably Samanla and Morup. Krakauer notes "No words were passed, No water, food or oxygen exchanged hands. The Japanese moved on ...".
That was real nice of them wasn't it.

I often tell people that I'll believe whales to be intelligent only when they learn to warn other whales to stay away from whaling ships.

That sounds like it's for language purposes. Many of them cannot speak any languages except Japanese so they simply demand customers enter their establishments with someone who speaks Japanese and knows the culture. It just seems shocking in countries like the US because discrimination is not allowed but when you think about it, it's practical. If we had such signs in the US, foreigners would have an easier time because they would have someone who can order for them and you wouldn't see so many people complain about lack of assimilation because signs wouldn't need to be in more than one language. It helps to have a mentor in a country you are unfamiliar with.

I walked into one Chinese store in Houston years ago and the woman working there chased me out saying something that sounded like "No English! No English".

You missed this part:

Quote:
The Japanese team denied that they had ever encountered the dying climbers on the way up.[23]

Captain Kohli, an official of the Indian Mountaineering Federation, who earlier had denounced the Japanese, later retracted his claim that the Japanese had reported meeting the Indians on 10 May.[23]

"The ITBP accepted the Fukuoka party statements that they neither abandoned nor refused to help the Indians."[23] The ITBP's director general "commented that a misunderstanding arose from communication difficulties between Indian attack party members and their Base Camp."[23]

That never happens to me in any store. Once I went to a pool hall that was mostly people from Thailand in the city where I live and they just ignored me and I, them. I have never experienced any of these types of problems.

And in Arizona and New Mexico, there are a lot of little Navajo stores that say you can't use their [public] restroom unless you buy something at the same time.

Most of the west has been led to believe whaling is a cardinal sin, one of the worst atrocities that could occur and although I agree, no endangered species should be hunted until it's population is no longer endangered nor should they be hunted to the point they actually are endangered, I do not believe whales are sacred in the grand scheme of things any more than any other creature unless they happen to be at the very top of the food chain and that might sound harsh but I didn't write the Planet Earth rules. If I did, we could all survive on bug juice and wheat grass. I'd have no problem with that.

Japanese do target endangered species, and they do use way to try and get round legitimation, such as posing a research vessel. Japanese waling industry have even bribed a Caribbean islands, with a waling quota, to cook their books.

They are one of the groups in the world that are the worst offender of over fishing, especially in other people's waters.

Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, to name a handful.

I do take the point that not all wales are endangered, and there should be some hunting of wales. however the idea they don't target endangered species is laughable.

Like any culture you get good and bad.

There is a sushi restaurant in London, which refuses to serve tuna until there are sustainable quota. Tuna are not endangered, but stock do need to recover

Probably one of the worse aspect of a hard core, are those that still not facing up to the atrocities they commuted in WWII, and the lack of real history taught in school about it.

So you'd base your moral and eating decisions on intelligence? And you base your decision (unless you've conversed with a whale recently) on some stranger's thoughts on the subject (????) as I do? Personally I find it slightly offensive to base a "killing" decision on whether they meet your chosen "expert's" level of "acceptability" or "high enough" level of intelligence.

I find this curious, especially in a forum filled with aspies that you should make such a "NT like" statement. Personally I disagree with these decisions made on an estimate of intelligence and find this repugnant.

As far as "delicious" is concerned you could sauté your own arm and find it tasty I'm sure. Perhaps make some of those "delicious" meatballs you folks are famous for????

As far as our ability to kill and eat everything we wish I prefer to err on the side of conservatism: Until the science is resolved and until man becomes a creature of understanding instead of hate I'll guess "intelligent" and bear up under the terrible fear I'll never be able to eat whale meat.

It will be hard and a great sacrifice (as I'm sure you agree) to hold off killing and eating these creatures because I have nothing good or tasty to eat (as you would also agree?) which forces me into this situation of eating whale so I don't starve to death.

On the other hand some people just don't give a s**t about anything but themselves. That would be the Japanese.
