What exactly IS the "Holy Ghost"?
What I find so fascinating, Techstep, is when modern man tries to grapple with these descriptions. I have done it myself, trying to imagine myself in this and when it comes right down to it. I simply cannot. I have figured out why. It's because I am so far removed from their existence and culture, I cannot fathom what they are doing nor what state is causing it. I can only surmise it is an altered state of some kind and a self induced ecstatic state brought on by harmonizing, movement, noise, and perhaps, hash, among other things. The Oracle at Delphi was just part of the culture so it seemed normal to be able to reach that state of Delphiness and to start reciting prophecies because it was practiced and expected then, just like it's practiced and expected American kids will go to school and learn to read and do mathematics. Same kind of mindset.
I envy some parts of their existence. We sit in front of the television and computer while they went out and connected with the actual noise and energy. There weren't any barriers from experiencing it first hand. Now we are made passive, partly by the technical revolution. We move further and further from action.

Our best guess is all we'd have if we had no other information from that time on what the philosophies were or what they meant. That's not really the case for most of the bible. The trinity in its popular form is tougher because 'preserver-destroyer-redeemer' or 'creator-preserver-redeemer' isn't something that's coherently visible.
As for Delphi there was a hallucinogenic gas coming from a volcanic vent in the rocks. OTOH that doesn't seem critical to transcendental experiences but I've have to strongly suggest that people like Ezekiel encountering the Merkabah or Isaiah encountering Seraphim at the Temple were doing something that's seen as pagan and anathema under modern churchianity - ie. they were meditating deeply and often, visiting a lot of the same places or frames of reference that yogis and shaman often visit. Understanding that terrain or that it exists in any meaningful sense is something that a person only can achieve by doing it themselves; it passes inspection for being repeatable (depending on whose willing to meditate for years to achieve that) just that the results aren't portable since the results are subjective rather than objective manifestations.
