Not only is there obviously no such day from any obvious cursory search online, anything related is certainly nothing to do with May Day... really? What's the point here, bust up unions or something? Oh, I get it, unions are communist! Unions are killers! Is that your propaganda, Darmok? You revived a 4 year old thread just to spew even worse propaganda, really? (You were so minimalist in your details years ago, but suddenly a few days ago you can't contain your bubbling anger...) - your fascist buddies can't go out and kill more now with a virus around, by any chance? So, of course, the next best thing is propaganda...

I watched an interesting video today that went into the history of May Day, specifically in an American sense.

So, apparently it always was labor day, but back during a time when workers were protesting against a lack of fairness in the workplace, a bomb was set off at a rally, which was blamed on the labor protestors but was just as likely a false flag done by groups like Pinkertons. A number of people were killed in this event from the following gunfire and was called the Haymarket affair, and was then used as excuse to round up 7 figureheads (one who was not even there, and another who had their family there) and put them in a sham trial that was made up of a jury specifically chosen to convict such as a family member of a police officer killed. All that to send a message against people who might protest for workers' rights.

A second labor day was then made to delegitimize the original, and then May Day was literally turned into some sort of loyalty day with the purpose of things like bashing commies. Ironic that people might see the kind of anti communism May Day of America as a show of freedom, when really you are giving into scaremongering over an even that was likely orchestrated by an anti-union strike force representing their rich employers, and was then used execute union leaders without a fair trial.

While I don’t agree with a lot of the things Darmok posts, he does raise the question as to why we’re not as quick to condemn atrocities by communist regimes as we are to condemn those by fascist ones.

Fascism is far-right extremism, and communism is far-left extremism.

Could a communist society also be a fascist society? Fascist more often than not is just one that puts a lot of stock in national pride, power into their police force to do whatever it wants, and may attack those that appear different, both can be at risk of far Right activism. It is just that those in power in places like America have adopted things like capitalism as a means of having power, and use conservatism to keep that power by the way of attacking things like communism or even socialism via decades of propaganda. Equating capitalism with freedom, even though you still have many lacking such freedoms via lack of opportunity within a capitalism system.

Are we not?

There’s an extent to which we celebrate defeating Hitler, but we never defeated Stalin or Mao or Pol Pot.

But whenever someone lists history’s greatest monsters then Stalin and Mao are probably going to be two of the first three names out of their mouth. Way before Mussolini or Franco, anyone from Imperial Japan, Petain, Horthy or Tiso, Antonescu or Salazar. That’s proportionate to their evil and historical significance but it doesn’t suggest a preference for Stalinists over fascists.

I think my question would be why certain elements of the American right never criticise Hitler or fascism without also criticising Stalin or communism, but have no qualms criticising Stalin without evoking Hitler.
