'Wednesday Hillary Clinton is done" Assange to speak Tuesday
Mises and Rothbard are supposed to be free-market libertarians. Trump wants to tax-and-regulate.
In all, other, historical examples, of which I am aware, a border wall is used to keep people from escaping, whether with physical wealth or with their own manpower.
According to his own campaign platform, Trump would be using these same methods against prospective dissidents --

okay, now I got where you're coming from.
I don't believe Trump is fit for that, due to his way of having reached his wealth, but I finally got a glimpse what you see in him that I don't.
Being from a different culture with a difficult past, I'm not a particular friend of the concept demagogue anyway.
by grassroots movement I meant: for a cause, not a single strong-man to fight for that cause, but I now see why that appeals to you.
but please, make no mistake. the demagogues of europe ride purely on xenophobia. there's no centrist republican businessmen-dealmaker behind them, there's no make germany or austria or france great again, but almost exlusively: make germany german again. or austria austrian. but there isn't a germany or austria to fall back to until you go back to at least 1945..... after that it's all part of europe.... so that's why I'd prefer to see the unwashed masses stand up to the EU and tell them, their financial politics don't work, without the: we need to be seperate, competing nations again. Historically, that was a bad, bad constellation. If the EU breaks up violently through these guys, europe might end up in ruins again, this century, and I'm assuming the ThyssenKrupps (german family of industrials that heavily profitted from ww2 and the following rebuilding of germany with american money) will emerge wealthier than ever.
There is significant difference between the nationalist sentiment in Europe and the US, Europe is made up ethnic states trying to become multicultural ones whereas the US has a unique brand of civic nationalism which EU hoped to replicate but one cannot create a state out of thin air. Nationalism does not have to be bad all the time, it's as as simple as standing up for your national interests which might not be shared with your neighbors. The policies of globalism that is happening simultaneously have created more inequality and have lessened our security so now there is a backlash against these policies as people don't think it has been a good deal for them.
Also yes, I know who Rothbard is and what he believed in which is why I came across that essay. I wasn't saying Trump was a libertarian, he doesn't need to be to apply the same words to him as it was Rothbard's defense of demagoguery as means of fighting the political establishment.

On shoes, it would have to be about 50%.
on the production value?
how do you end up with that number?
and... what will people say if they earn more, but the prices of everything go up? I mean, there won't be 3 t-shirts for 5 bucks at wallmart anymore. hell, there might not be any wallmart anymore...
It could need to be as high as 100%. That's how much more shoes cost to be made here in the US.

I think Nike could handle seeing their profit margins cut a little bit
there were shirts and shoes before Chinese slave labor

You think so huh? Do you have any idea how business works? I'm sure the shareholders would love their profits cut by 50%.
they can go to hell
Nike is one the biggest exploiters on the planet, people get killed over those shoes

Most US retailers sell products made overseas and would go out of business if that supply were cut off. Are you willing to accept a huge influx of the unemployed? While at the same time prices for basic goods increase 50-100%? Any president who made that happen would not be re-elected.

THAT is also true- and here's where any hypothetical trust in Trump's ability to "bring down the system" definitely ends for me. What's his plan for after the revolution?

That's not would happen tho and not every country in the world in ran on slave labor. These big corporations cannot raise their prices 50-100% because they can't do that and maintain market share. Shoes are not that expensive to produce, those new Air Jordans have like a 2000% profit margin. We had shoes before Chinese slave labor, we had fruit before illegal immigrants, the world won't stop turning because the exploiters can no longer exploit. This is the similar to the argument they used for the continence of slavery in the United States. The world will be better off in the end, one must have courage and the willingness to sacrifice in the short term to stand up for what you believe in and for a better tomorrow.
Trump isn't going to ban trade with China or Mexico anyways, just make it more fair and to no longer compete with one arm behind our back. China protects its domestic industries, Korea protects their domestic industries, Japan protects it domestic industries, why can't the US?
No, Trump is not going to be able to achieve quick revolutionary change unless he receives a revolutionary mandate otherwise he will have to be pragmatic and make deals to get what he wants done and that involves give and take which is why he negotiates from a position of strength. He will change things however and set us back on the path to where we want to be.
It's weird how all the leftists in this country have all the sudden became outsourcing supporting free traders. Trump literally says he wants Bernie Sanders to help negotiate trade deals yet they still continue this narrative that he's somehow against the poor and some terrible Randian ideologue when it couldn't be further from the truth.

it would end capitalism as we know it today, and have known it since the 70ies. I'm all for that to end,I just would want to see that done by a leftie. the prime US industry is IT, and that's where the randians are. but true, hillary is all for them. I basically agree with you on that goal, however, I'd rather pay the slaves money so they can go to school before we build everything with robots here, instead of retraining miners to cobblers, and letting thethird world go entirely to sh*t.

Wikileaks just released the new Guccifer 2.0 info on Hillary Clinton
seems to be exposing a lot of financial corruption, saw some stuff with TARP funds being funneled to the Democratic party and then another about Nancy Pelosi's Goat Hill Pizza restaurant being a front company to funnel money to Democrats. Wikileaks saying they are going to be releasing stuff every week for the next 10 weeks, Guccifer 2.0 said that this latest release was just a small part of what he/she has.

Not released through (and therefore not vetted by) wikileaks, but accessible through guccifer 2's blog.
if real, it looks horrible.
