It's funny how young people insult each other by saying pretty normal things about which they are in denial. Like calling each other thirsty. I get the point, but speaking from a distance of some years, all young people seem thirsty relative to most of the population.
Then this feminist/white knight thing. Let's unpack it. A white knight defends women, usually clumsily. So, one problem could be that the people using it as an insult want to attack some particular woman on the basis of what they believe about all women. Defending that particular person against a bigot seems like a good thing to me, but I'd want to do it cleverly rather than clumsily. I think the clumsiness matters more, in terms of making the insult effective. The bigots have an advantage, because it's easier to be vicious than clever.
Bigotry is losing bigly this year, and it will only get harder for bigots. We'll have a huge backlash against women, just like we had a lot of new overt racism for the past 8 years, but it's clear which way the arc of history is bending.
