Surely, you know that's not true----what with all your gay rights advocacy.....

If she were a man, and wanted children, she would simply find a woman willing to be a surrogate.

As if there's a bit of evidence to support her using a surrogate.

Yeah, I certainly don't think interracial marriages ("race mixing") is a cause of racism (racism was around WAAAAAY before then - at least, way before they openly admitted that they were in a mixed relationship)----but, I wouldn't call it a "justifcation", either; if anything, I think it's a refutation.

I have often thought that the rise in white, female kids (mid-to-late teens, for instance) having mixed-race relationships, was because they had, say, an Archie Bunker-type father, and they went out of their way to prove him, wrong----they wanted (maybe even felt they needed) to say to a black person "See, I'm not like those other white people". That's a good reason why kids that age shouldn't be havin' sex, cuz they don't consider more things, before they make a decision----if they considered more things, they would have given more consideration to how the BABY would fare when it was seen to be, OBVIOUSLY (almost always), of a mixed race; and, how they (the babies) can, STILL, to-this-day, be treated unfairly, by BOTH races.

Also, I think it's quite possible that one of the reasons there is a rise in interest in a black, male kid having a relationship with a white girl, has to do with him thinking that that way, their kid would have chances, THEY didn't (because the kid was half-white)----and, I've heard several other reasons, to include them wanting their kid to have a chance of having "the GOOD hair", to they didn't wanna be with a black females anymore, because they were so mean (that includes ADULTS).

I'm not saying there IS----I was just saying that what you said, that it would be impossible, wasn't true.

I think that he meant that she "had" kids ('had' as in "giving birth to them").

None of this will matter in a a couple of hundred years. By then intermarriage will have taken care of racism.

Or self-inflicted extinction will have taken care of the human race.

I think anyone racist enough to vote against someone for marrying across races would also be racist enough to not vote for a mixed-race president in the first place.

I guess what I should have said is "If you know anything about the history/psychology of American racism, you would know that trying to prevent race mixing is one justification for racism, not a cause."

After emancipation, many people justified violent oppression of black men and segregation in general by saying that black men were too sexually aggressive and if not kept in check, they would corrupt and defile white women. That's why they didn't just lynch black men, they more often castrated them.

That said, I can certainly see how a white wife would make racists even more anti-Obama, but I find it hard to believe that many whites who were okay with a black man as president, would be put-off by a mixed marriage.

Plus, we need to remember that most whites opposed to Obama did not care about his race. They opposed him for ideological reasons.

It's probably right that he would of had a much harder time in Chicago politics with a white wife, Michelle gives him credibility and fends off the accusations that he isn't "black enough" which was a thing for a short time when he first started emerging in national politics. I think that's a pretty cynical calculating decision on Obama's part of if it were true, I think there is a lot of stuff we will never know about Obama's life especially around that time he was at Columbia. CIA, that's all I'm gonna say.

I have definite tastes, so don't see admixture as a random process.

People, who value one culture over another, would probably tend to look more like that people group, over successive generations.

For instance, a Japanophile, negrophile, Egyptophile, or sapiophile.

Saying that like begets like is going to be one of those examples of objectivity, in which the labeling will offend nihilists, I am sure.

And, I think I could see past those labels if someone was sincerely virtuous.

What people are usually doing, though, is making a political statement. They will give social promotions and unconditional acceptance, to bad or worthless people, and try to make it gross. They want a scene, not to be honorable. Is it really a good person. Or, are they disagreeable.

Yeah, but here's what I feel was the major difference..... With HIM, BOTH sides could say: "Well, at least he's HALF _______"; whereas if he would've had a white wife, I think that would've just been too much for some people, and I really think that might've cost him alot of votes (possibly, even the election).

Even if it's true that Obama wanted a black wife for political advantage - which is an assertion of what is probably an Anti-Obama book), that hardly means he didn't love Michelle when he asked her to marry him.
