Bernie Sanders explained it.

The Democrats have lost the middle class, because they don't care about them.

So the middle class vote for peoples who cared even less about them.

-Trump wants middle class tax cuts (double the standard deduction).
-Trump wants the Obamacare penalty off the backs of the middle class.
-Trump is doing something about immigration that helps middle class jobs.

-Trump is renegotiating NAFTA more favorably for the US.
Trump (Gasp) wants pro-labor tariffs (aka the border adjustment tax).

Democrats wouldn't give a hoot about any of this.

I know lower middle class people that as a couple have to pay $14,000 for Obamacare premiums . Thanks to Trump's instructions to the IRS to ignore the mandate, they cancelled their Obamacare.

The penalty for ignoring the mandate is:
Quote:
The fee for not having health insurance in 2016 & 2017

The fee is calculated 2 different ways – as a percentage of your household income, and per person. You’ll pay whichever is higher.
Percentage of income

2.5% of household income
Maximum: Total yearly premium for the national average price of a Bronze plan sold through the Marketplace

Per person

$695 per adult
$347.50 per child under 18
Maximum: $2,085
https://www.healthcare.gov/fees/fee-for ... g-covered/

Therefore, your friends are either extremely wealthy and not middle class, or they're morons.

:P

Trump told the IRS to ignore the health insurance part of the tax form.

So, starting this year, the IRS has no way of telling if you have or don't have insurance. So nobody should pay the penalty

See ...

The point is, if they were paying $14,000.00 to avoid the penalty, they are extremely wealthy (because their penalty calculated at 2.5% of income) must exceed $14k, (that means they are making more than $350,000.00/year) or they are stupid, because it would be much cheaper to just pay the penalty.

Dude, I'm taking you to task anyway. What you said was extremely ignorant and prejudiced and a huge reason why there's so much animosity between the right and left...

And, claiming MissLizard as a friend doesn't make it any better.

Hell, Trump has TWO black friends, but that doesn't make him any less of a racist douche.

Really, I expected better from you.

Yes, I know.

The Democrats care about those who otherwise would not have health care, even if they vote Republican, or if they don't vote at all out of apathy due to the wide spread depression so common among poor people.

I'm not going to argue someone else's preferences, but I will say this: I've not a fan of any software that wants to 'call home' every 15 minutes, and has geo-tracking on by default. But you're right, who cares about privacy?

Why does this party tend to attract such people? The reason likely is that conservativism is more simplistic than liberalism. It's more black and white and there's less to think about. For example, many conservatives will contend that a person is born male or female, and if they are male, their gender is male, and if they are female, their gender is female, end of story. They do not want to hear anything about intersexed conditions, or biological variability, or theories on brain sex, or psychological development. That is too complex and stressful for them to contend with. But to many liberals, a person can be a male or female, or something in between, and their gender need not match their physical sex.

The low IQ ones outnumber the smarter farming ones here in the Bible Belt. They have been brainwashed by mainstream Christianity into thinking if you aren't white or Christian, you aren't a "tru Uhmuricun". Lately, it's getting to where they think only whites can be Christians and white people who aren't (such as myself) are traitors.

Wow. Really?

This problem is worse than I thought.

This is why I never take the concept of "anti-Christian discrimination" seriously.

It's horrifying. They will go on and on about how they are so full of love but if you are on the LGBT spectrum, practice a different faith, and are non-white or atleast not Anglo-Saxon white, you are going straight to Hell. The Bible Belt also has the highest rates of domestic violence, divorce, STDs, and teen pregnancy due to the reverse psychological effect of the "Don't do this, don't do that!" mentality. Rednecks also think the US was built on Christian ideals when most of the Founding Fathers were anti-religious.

Why does the Democratic Party side against them is a better question. A lot of US politics is simply pitting one demographic group against another and feeling like you have to vote for the lesser of two evils or else, it is true that voting for a nonviable third party candidate is pointless in the US because not voting the lesser evil is essentially the same as voting for the greater evil in this system.

I think there's such a thing as being overly concerned about privacy. In my case, I don't care what the government, Microsoft, or Google (I don't use any Apple products so I don't worry about them) have access to, as I don't have the delusions of grandeur to think that they really care enough to deliberately research my private life.

You know, in an earlier, simpler time, we all lived either in small towns or old-fashioned urban neighborhoods where everybody knew everybody else's business. A woman's neighbors often found out if she was pregnant before she herself knew about it. But with the internet, we've joined this Global Village where we have allowed a window to be opened on our lives. I think we will all get used to it as time goes on, unless there is some new revolutionary change in technology that makes our present-day privacy concerns obsolete.

Rednecks also think anyone who speaks Spanish is automatically from Mexico despite how Spanish is an European language just like English.

I explicitly stated that the $14,000 was going towards Obamacare premiums. They are seniors, and wanted health care coverage.

They got the ACA subsidies last year.

This year , however, as a couple they are going to make like $50,000 total income. They qualify for some premium subsidies, however, they calculated they were going to have to re-pay Obamacare $14,000.

Well, they cancelled quickly.

They were ecstatic when they heard Trump was helping the little people by having the IRS forgo the Obamacare penalty.
