I think people can cherry pick just about anything though. For me, evolutionary psychology just puts a lot of things I previously thought were illogical in perspective. I think it's important to keep in mind the concept of what an average actually is though. A lot of people have a habit of taking averages and statistical skews to binary extremes, which distorts the situation or outright misrepresents the situation.
Believe me, I've indulged in EP myself, but, as a moderator, I get annoyed when people try to present it as "facts."
There's too many people using EP to push racist/sexist/homophobic narratives, and it tends to be a pet peeve of mine. Additionally, animal behavior has been my special interest since I was a kid, so, when I see folks over-simplifying complex issues, I get annoyed.
Ultimately, EP is much more philosophy than "science."
When it gets in to the hands of the public, a lot of people weaponize it, much as they do to the concept of IQs for example. It's unfortunate but such individuals will craft weapons out of what they can.

Agreed.
And, as women, we're expected to tip-toe around male egos.

Possibly but I'm not very good at it. I'm not very good with sensitive people in general. Some guys have expectations of me for being female that I can't meet in that they expect me to be as delicate with them as their mothers.
Nope, can't do. I'm polite and I am not oblivious to the fact that others have feelings but I'm not their mother.

You are well grounded...
Level-headed...
Rational rather than emotional...
Probably has a lot to do with you being on the spectrum...

Well, one known narrative is that us women are incapable of love.
If one man killed our mate, then we, as women, would mate with the murderer because he is "stronger."
Therefore, women have had the capability of "love" bred out of us. And, yes, I've heard this argument from guys who were completely serious. This is the kind of crap reasoning that goes into much of "evo psych."

I think there are at least two gross oversimplifications right there, and I'm not sure who came up with them, but it's hardly evolutionary psychology's fault.
First, just because you choose the suitor you believe is fittest, consciously or not, doesn't mean you don't love him. It just means love has to be earned, fighting to the death if there's no better way to get it through a lesser male's thick skull that he has no business approaching females and bothering them with his inferior genes. Therefore, if a weak male managed to deceive a female into loving him, it makes perfect sense for her love to be shattered when a stronger male finally comes along to put him in his place, helping her see him for the complete waste of oxygen he is.
Second, you called the stronger male a murderer, but that's not the classical meaning of this word. Murder is what you call a wrongful, cowardly killing. An honorable killing, like defeating someone in a duel, is not murder; it's an act of justice.

It's not evo psych's "fault" because evo psych is not a conscious entity.
It's the fault of people who attempt to impose their sh_tty, half-a$$ed interpretations of the natural world on human society.

To make this "concrete" for me, could you give an example?

I haven't seen anything like that on Wrong Planet ever. That sounds more like something MGTOW youtubers would pull out of their butt. The people in that "movement" are extremely bitter to the point of being deranged.

On this forum, women are expected to admit our problems aren't as "valid" as male problems, and that we should be grateful for sexual harassment because "at least we're getting attention!"
So, no, it's not just NT males.

I know.
I'm just presenting one facet of "evo psych" that demonstrates what utter bullplop it is.

I bow to your greater experience...
Errrm...<bow>
This is disappointing but informative...
Would you say, however, that the macho-bulldust is less prevalent in autistic males?
And how much do you attribute this nonsense to social conditioning?
Can these incalcitrant auties be rehabilitated through councilling?
