Apparently Batten getting Sargon in was about finances, as UKIP was on the edge of bankruptcy all those new members saved it. I think its fine for him to be work for UKIP but he is a massive own goal. 57 year old Joan from Hull isn't going to look into what he actually believes she is going to read the headlines about him and then not vote for UKIP because of it.

The media smearing will do damage in the short term for sure. But let's not forget that the smearing was going on before and would have continued with or without Sargon.

With Sargon though, if he can suck up a lot of public attention and then use that attention to get his views to the public and also expose the media for what they are...

I don't know if he can, but he's more capable than others to push back against it. He might also serve as a lightning rod to keep them off others. So I'm hoping long term he'll prevail. Trump is in the White House despite constant, unrelenting media hostility...

UKIP has always been under attack by the media and Batten has said things that many would consider controversial such as "Islam is a death cult" but I feel that needs to be said, Islam is an evil ideology and needs to be called out.

We don't need racist jokes, we don't need people making rape jokes to female MP's with Sargon we get controversy without any actual argument.

Trump is a billionaire celebrity who ran for the highest office in the world, the media lied about him and many people still believe those lies but many people looked into them and saw how much the press lies. Many people will not look into what a youtube celebrity running for a minor political office actually said.

I find the idea of being proud of what people who lived in the country I live in did hundreds of years ago highly problematic. But I livr in Germany, and here, history means acknowledging the dark bits openly.
Sargon is in the UK, where I studied, and oh dear, they have not yet taken a responsible view of their former empire.
They relish the greatness, but of course they understand how violent it all was, and highly at odds with their own view of themselves as the veacon of civilization. But you won't find much of that in the museums. It's like there's a public version that shows only greatness, and a grumblingly acknowledged oral history, in which they admit the racism and bloodshed.

So when he speaks of muslims and spaniards, I can't ignore that he's British, argueing to be allowed to take pride in an empire as huge and efficiently genocidal as no other in the history of mankind.

I recently read a book on the history of asia in the 19th and early 20th century. All the turmoil there now, from egypt to afghanistan, as well as communism in east asia, go back to thinkers and ideas of how to establish national self determination under the oppression of British power.
I really don't think it's a good idea to moralize and emotionalize history (any more than it already is).

Plus, what is to be gained from taking pride in conquest, other than the desire to take it up again?

The thing is we are brainwashed at school to believe the Empire was good. The Average Briton was not responsible for the evils of Empire however we were the victims of it. We were colonised by the Normans, they stole our land, forced us to pay taxes, they socially and economically oppressed us for centuries. Indians got India back after independence but the Aristocracy is still running things in the UK they still own 30% of British land. Prior to the industrial revolution it was like 90%.

My grandfather was conscripted (enslaved) and sent to Malaysia to protect some upper class persons financial interests, then when he comes home he lives in relative poverty like most working class families did back then. The government then starts allowing foreigners to come into the country and devaluing his labour. Now have hundreds of thousands of foreigners coming in, further devaluing labour and when we complain about this we get "Muh Empire" "Muh Slavery".

But it's only because the media choose to focus on that stuff. If Sargon wasn't there, it would be something else similar. Have you watched any of his sit down public debates? Or perhaps that Sky News segment where he did at least manage to get some thoughts in before they chopped it up. Free speech and stopping political correctness are a top priority for him though, so he's not going to stop being and to be politically correct.

So, for anyone who doesn't know, Sargon took a TV interview with Sky News. He recorded the full audio of about 40mins and put it on his channel. Then they aired this, which I think was a very fair edit:

but then they switched it to air this abomination and they put it on their Youtube:

Comments disabled so we can't debunk it. That's not standard, you can comment on their other videos. The thumb isn't disabled though. 435 up, 9,715 down. 8)

That's exactly my point it was always obvious the media was going to behave like this, your average voter isn't going to go an watch his youtube videos. They will simply read the headlines and believe the media lies about him.

Free speech is a very important battle but he isn't going to change anyone's mind by making jokes about rape and throwing around racial slurs.

If Sargon wasn't running for UKIP they would still try to smear them but they would be much less effective at it because there is no one there who has said anything else like he has.

I disagree on the perception it would be significantly harder to smear without Sargon. If jokes and slurs that in context aren't slurs are the worst thing they can find, is it really that bad? A lot of people are sick of political correctness and the typical career politician. I don't expect to see results any time soon, but over time, maybe he can get through to people, that's what I'm hoping.

We shouldn't be bending to play the press' game, we should be not taking their s**t and calling it out and rolling over them like Sargon is trying to do. Roll over them, not over for them.

What other candidates have called people racial slurs? What other candidates have called down syndrome people ret*ds? Its not about rolling over to the media its about accepting they have more power and they will use that against him. Most people dislike political correctness but that doesn't mean they like people who make rape jokes to rape victims.

Sargon may think he is rolling over them but he isn't, I doubt he has won anyone over with his campaign. He may even end up with his youtube channel getting put into limited state like Tommy Robinson has.

I never heard of that "Sargon of Akkad", but a quick research show that he rant about "cultural Marxism", and this is a red flag and come from Nazi propagand; plus he call himself "Sargon of Akkad" which is another layer of crazy.
I can't know for sure if he ranted racist and misogynist things on Youtube (I just don't want to bother checking), but if he did, then calling him a "racist" and a "misogynist" is justified.

This is a pretty weak position from your...erm...position...
If you can't be bothered doing the in depth research you lose a sizable amount of credibility, no?
Of course, you are entitled to your opinion, but...

In a couple of videos above, there were pretty convincing arguments indicating how the media perverted the truth...
May I suggest you keep in mind their damaged integrity, their history of servicing a not so hidden agenda and activate and maintain critical thinking mode...

I don't really know the man so I am keeping an open mind, at this stage...

This is the only problem I have with him at this time...
He says that "they are only words" but to a vulnerable individual who may be struggling with life, words can damage a person's confidence which is essential in developing self-esteem and self-actualisation...

I think he is trying to apply an adult mindset to vulnerable children...

Yeah, I know. All British people I know personally are working class. I keep telling them you don't need Brexit, you need guillotines.

Friedrich Hayek wrote that price of labour has to come down to the "level of the Hindu" in western countries. And no one took him more seriously than the British elite.

That power must be broken, not caved in to, because they'll never accept UKIP. Nothing UKIP could do would ever be good enough to even receive fair treatment never mind positive treatment.

Sargon intends to sue the Mail and the Sun. You might think it's a lost cause, but trust in the mainstream media is bleeding away. They're in decline. New competitors are emerging and taking bites out of them.

I've seen the general social-psychology principle behind this discussed before, and it seems to me it has a name but I can't remember it -- maybe someone knows?

The general principle is this: On average, most people want to fit in. Under normal circumstances, most people trim their behavior so they do and will fit in. If, however, a dominant group declares a particular subgroup to be outside the group's boundaries, then the members of that subgroup quickly stop trimming their behavior and become even further "out" than they were before. When there was a prospect of being part of the main group, they were generally willing to conform; but if the main group rules that out, then they no longer try to fit in and they behave and speak with less restraint.

We need both. The ruling families of Europe have always worked together against the European people. The EU is trying to become the Holy Roman Empire. The Habsburgs have played a part in forming it the EU, the current head of the family has spoken out against nationalism. They even have an award called the Charlemagne prize.

The establishment constantly alludes to the crimes of the 20th century as to why the public are dangerous but neither Nazism or Socialism would have risen if not for the crimes of the upper class of the in the centuries before that.

Germans should absolutely feel proud of their heritage a few bad years shouldn't dissolve all the positive things Germans have contributed to the world.

The power does need to be broken but Sargon isn't going to do it, not by making rape jokes and using racial slurs.

Normal people hate political correctness but they do like manners and Carl's behaviour has been very unprofessional at no point has he looked like a competent political candidate.

Sargon is a competitor and he is just given them ammunition to have his youtube channel taken down.

His theory on that is that if he refuses to bend in the face of the pressure, refuses to be anything other than himself, the negative will eventually become positive. We will see I suppose.

Remember, it's the media making him look bad. Taken as a whole, I know why he does the things he does, and he isn't shy about telling you exactly why he does. He can be totally professional when talking about issues, but the media don't want to.

I probably wouldn't be interested in a dumbed down and sanitised for the masses Sargon. A Sargon that bends the knee to the media and falls in line while they lord it over him. I don't want to see that. He's fighting for what's right, he has thousands upon thousands of hours of content, it's never going to be all perfect and family friendly.

Which is why he shouldn't have run in the first place. He was always a liability. The media is making him look bad but so is he, he has recently joked about raping Jess Phillips. This is not going to win anyone over, its not about whats interesting to see, its about political support and Sargon is not winning anyone over.
