Something of a side-topic here.

I went through western Alberta and BC in August, it's absolutely beautiful. Similarly on Banff and Jasper, if anyone ever jacked either of those to places up I think I'd just about make it my life mission to deal with them or the agencies responsible. That's not to say that I think we in the US would mess those two places up, AFAICT we're doing fine with places like Glacier and Yellowstone, just that when I say natural wonders or places that should be preserved as more important than any given generation there's a reason for that.

If I remember correctly there was some sort of deal going on in the 19th century where the US wanted to pick up BC, particularly with Alaska already in the north, both they and the Canadian government were trying their own equivalents of influence to get BC on their side, and the Canadian government ultimately won that contest.

I had forgotten traveling through Banff and Jasper some 40 years ago. It was stunningly beautiful. Thanks for posting the gorgeous photos.

Glad to hear you had that opportunity, it's really a blessing.

I really want to get some of my friends back there in the next few years, maybe staying in Canmore or camping, the town of Banff is a bit of a tourist trap, quaint and maybe worth a lunch but I definitely want to spend my time out at the lakes and mountains - and much more than the hour or hour and a half I got on my tour.

I spent a few days camping. Never really got into any town. I did take a tour trip to get out and walk on a glacier. Maybe it is worth heading back there. The trouble for me is that kind of a vacation competes for time with my canoe tripping and that really is where my heart is.

I flip based on context. It's a Zee-28 but a 240Zed. Why?
Z-28s are American, so it should be pronounced like a Yank, zee.
240Zs are Japanese, so it should be pronounced like Zeto.
