How is it ironic that they'd prioritize the bigger problem? ![]()

Just a reminder: under international law, an occupying power has no right of self-defense, and those who are occupied have the right and duty to liberate themselves by any means possible.
I think enough has been said in this thread to point out the irony , if you don't see it as irony that's your viewpoint and that's fine , I disagree with you but I cannot understand irony for you.

The way that I see it is that a bunch of people got together to honour a black man. The protests were all fine and dandy until the funeral. You'd think that by now they would have gone home where it's safe and let him rest in peace. If they keep coming together the way that they are, they're going to put themselves and a lot of people in their communities at risk for Covid-19. I won't be surprised if a second wave starts in a few weeks because the protesters keep getting together.

And when you point out this fact to protesters they will use nearly all logical fallacies but usually Ad Hominem. I could understand better if the only risk involved was your own life.
Total irony.
They wouldn't get it, though.
You can protest in safer ways.
There might be a second coronavirus wave because of the protesters not social distancing.
And the Blacks are more susceptible.
Not the smartest thing in the world to do, imo.
The prefrontal cortex of the human brain doesn't physically mature until around age 25, possibly 30s.

"The prefrontal cortex doesn’t have nearly the functional capacity at age 18 as it does at 25".
So, young people may do stupid stuff.
I couldn't have said it better.
Seriously.

Are you claiming that RushKing , The_Walrus & Bradleigh don't have fully developed brains - just kidding , I know what you're saying and kids do dumb stuff , I can attest to that.
People under 30 tend to be more emotional,
And take greater risks, yes.
Believe "The Science".
Not everyone is able to attend the protests for obvious reasons (you live with elderly, have young kids at home, work, sensory issues with crowds, live in a rural area).
if you think this is ironic, you either don't care about black lives and the racial issue or you are naive and have been uneducated and our American system school sucks because they failed to teach us and our parents failed to teach us because their parents failed and so did their schools. You can't care about something if you were never made aware of it.
So you are saying there is only one interpretation,
And that it is yours?
Let me think about that.

Yes there’s an irony there and I think people should be protesting in a socially distanced fashion, but I don’t think it’s particularly cutting to point this out. People choosing to risk their lives in order to protest that other people don’t value their lives highly enough isn’t a contradiction.
People choosing to risk their lives,
And other people's lives, by bringing back the disease, is a concern.
Not to mention, the economic havoc.
Good grief, I just did. D'oh!
Remember,
It was left-wing individuals who overwhelmingly favoured saving lives through being locked down.
XFG even mentioned he didn't want to bring the disease back to his mother, as an example.
Isn't it a little hypocritical, for left-leaning individuals, to now flout social distancing protocols?
Pretty B&W hypocrisy, in my book.

Maybe the left-wing individual think that even more people are going to die if they disperse and stop protests? Shouldn't that give you an idea of how seriously they see the issue that they are not following social distancing protocols that they were the side pushing for.
It is not hypocrisy or a sense of irony that they are protesting after so strongly supporting social distancing, it is irony that you are telling them to shut up and stay home so they won't die, because that won't change things that could stop them from being killed. Lives Matter, and it is total BS that they have to do this for people to actually pay attention for once, that this is the point in time that everyone is worked up enough that they are ready that enough is enough. But people are sitting in their ivory castles wondering why so many people are angry.

For the last time it was not all about one man. His death was the spark, but he has not been the only one treated like he was, and he won't be the last if something does not change. Covid-19 is not the only sickness, there has been one lasting for a much longer time and one that people in power have been much more complacent to do nothing about.
I am quite honestly surprised that people are surprised that this has happened, it was like they have not been following the news over how much garbage has built up, that has become branches and timber that has been piled up, dried and ready for a single match to create a blaze. Those calling for it to stop now have not learned a single thing if they thought it should end with a single victim put into the ground and specific perpetrators maybe held accountable. If what is happening now is smothered, you really won't like what will happen next time it blows, because it will magnify.

Nothing changes and there will be more violence and discrimination by cops and the system.
I know that our country has separate elements, and I don't know many of your actual beliefs or what change you have fought for other than you think that you are a free thinker. But you seem pretty complacent with how things were, going to guess that you would love to stay in your little bubble where the world is right other than those bleeding heart Leftists that want refugees to be treated like humans or tell you that fossil fuels that you used all your life are going to kill people in the future.
How can you not see that your complacently your whole life has endangered the lives of people? According to the right-wing it is never a good time to protest, or they would rather them do it away from them, which defeats the entire purpose of a protest. They are not protesting the lockdown, that would be people on the right, they are protesting those that do harm and those that let it happen by being completely okay with it. Stop caring about just yourself for once and give a s**t for the people so upset that they are protesting despite being aware of how dangerous it is.

What is so shocking about that?
