I'm so glad that you are not voting for Trump!

No true patriot would fake a bone spur and buy a deferment just to evade The Draft.

I’m sure as hell am NOT voting for either Major candidate. Nor am I voting for the “second tier” party candidates. I’ll vote for same unknown crackpot, if only to express my utter disgust of what passes for political discourse in these times.

To quote H.L. Mencken, “Never underestimate the intelligence of the American Electorate.”

Unfortunately, my late, lamented Basset Hound was a lot smarter than the typical American of today.

Why wouldn’t you get to vote, DeathEmperor?

I'm registered to vote in Florida but I moved back home to Georgia. I'd have to register to vote here in Georgia but my Mom has been too busy and too sick to do a lot of driving so she can't drive me to get registered. I'm unable to drive myself.

I just don't think I'll get the chance. :(

Georgia allows you to register online it looks like...
https://registertovote.sos.ga.gov/GAOLVR/welcometoga.do#no-back-button

Doesn't it cost money though? And I'm sure it requires additional information for me to register. Honestly I would need my Mom's help to do that because I wouldn't have a clue. I might suggest it to her though so thanks for the link. :)

I'm pretty sure charging someone to vote is illegal. It amounts to a poll tax.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding how it works but last time I registered to vote in Florida was when I got my ID Card (like a Driver's License only it does not permit me to drive) and I think it cost like $30, maybe that was more for the ID Card than actually registering to vote... I dunno. :?

Florida has a bad reputation when it comes to elections and voting. I'm surprised they were able to get away with it, even if it was just for the ID fee.

I am voting against the orange guy because he has done enough trouble already and I don't need more laws to be reversed by him that will violate more human rights.

Sorry, I forgot and I have seen people mention names in this thread already. But somehow I am always the one that has to stand out when other people get away with it. Welcome to my childhood.

Equally: Who can show that Mr Trump does not (or did not - I understand it may now be possible now to have these surgically ground off) have bone spurs at the time?

From the Canadian point of view, I see American politics as a circus. If I was American, I'd vote for Trump.

https://www.militarytimes.com/news/pentagon-congress/2019/02/27/trumps-lawyer-no-basis-for-presidents-medical-deferment-from-vietnam/

Quote:
President Donald Trump acknowledged to advisors that he made up a fake injury to avoid military service, because “I wasn’t going to Vietnam,” his former lawyer told lawmakers during testimony on Wednesday.

“Mr. Trump claimed (his medical deferment) was because of a bone spur, but when I asked for medical records, he gave me none and said there was no surgery,” Cohen told members of the House Oversight Committee. “He told me not to answer the specific questions by reporters but rather offer simply the fact that he received a medical deferment.

“He finished the conversation with the following comment: ‘You think I'm stupid, I wasn't going to Vietnam.’”

Trump has downplayed his relationship with Cohen and claimed he is fabricating stories about their work together in order to negotiate a deal with federal prosecutors for a lesser sentence on a host of unrelated crimes.

I guess it depends on how trusted Cohen's testimony may be. Another we may never truly know situation it sounds like.

I feel like if the two candidates were friends with my grandparents, I would like one of them and not the other.

If I were American I would be voting for the one who I like.

Politically, neither of them is ideal, but one of them has policies I would respectfully disagree with, whereas the other is both politically and personally intolerable.

I won't say his name. I'll just say he's a great guy who made America great again and once he wins he's going to keep America great.
