One of my aunts also has a hard time being around disabled people who look different than others. It's a matter of not knowing how to act around them and I am like "uh she can be herself and treat them like how she would treat anyone else."

I have never interacted with people who are confined to a wheel chair and can't really do anything. I just find it boring to be around someone and not do anything and things I like to do they cannot do because they cannot talk or play video games and you can only ask them yes or no questions so they point to yes or no on their board. Even if they could talk using some device to give them a voice, I still couldn't relate to them because they couldn't do the same things I liked doing. I had nothing against them. Some people may call this ableism but to me it's a matter of not having anything in common and having social difficulties myself where I wouldn't know how to interact with them and I get bored. I don't feel uneasy around them though.

I might have to disagree on this one. I believe that these days homosexuality has become so accepted that anyone who doesn't like homosexuality are shamed and labelled "homophobic". In other words it is politically incorrect to not accept homosexuality.

But it is homophobic to not accept it.

But homophobia is just as shamed as what homosexuality once was. It's like people aren't allowed to have their own opinions these days.

Hating someone for who they are is not an opinion. People have died from homophobia and have been oppressed because of their sexuality so this "opinion" should not be tolerated. Also gay people have been disowned and abused by family members for being gay so this is not something to be taken lightly.

It is an opinion albeit a bigoted opinion if the person does not act upon those thoughts.

Back to why it is not accepted as so many have said religion plays a big role. If you have faith in religion with a homophobic doctrine you are much more likely to be a homophobe.

What I usually do not see discussed is sexual preference, specifically if one finds the physical act between two people of the same gender disgusting. Lesbian porn has become a goldmine because a lot of guys are turned on by women having sex with each other. A lot of these same guys are repulsed by the sight of two men having sex with each other. It is too easy to expand this personal instinctual reaction into believing that any attraction and beyond between two members of the same sex is wrong.

People are homphobic because people are homophobic. That’s just the way they are. If people don’t like you for your sexual orientation, race or whatever, there’s nothing you can do about it and there’s nothing you need to do about it. People who aren’t impressed with you for your orientation, race etc. aren’t worth impressing. They can go and find someone else to admire. 8)

I don't mind honosexuality at all. People can go with whoever rocks their boat but occasionally I have issues with some aspects of gay culture. I find the extreme ends of gay culture to be very egocentric, catty and lacking in respect for the privacy of others. Gossip is a big part of the people like that and I just find people like that unpleasant to be around.

Most others I'm perfectly happy to be around.

As long the attitude of "It's okay for you, but it's not my thing" is not considered hostile, we'll all get along fine.

"this opinion should not be tolerated." ?
So you believe opinions should be policed? That is a rather authoritarian view.

Not if ALL opinions are policed (which is the current practice on this website), and not just opinions from the Left.

"I think all the gays in the world should be executed, this is so disgusting."

Yep, this is just my opinion, please don't police me and judge me for this opinion or you are bigoted.

Not wanting to see porn nor wanting to read or hear about it is not homophobia. Lot of people don't like porn or want to hear about your sex life. That doesn't mean they are intolerant of your "lifestyle" or relationship. It's the same with straight couples too. I don't want to hear about you having sex or how you had it and what you did in bed, same as for my parents. I don't know anyone who has told anyone details about their sex lives other than saying "we slept together."

I also think it's quite normal for people to not want to read about gay sex, I am sure gay people feel the same way about straight sex. I can't imagine what life must have been like for them when they were still in the closet and tried to live a straight life and have straight sex. I can't imagine myself trying to have it with another woman. That is because I am not a lesbian and I am sure that is how gay people feel about the opposite sex.

No hostility there.

And there are people who are turned off by sex and disgusted by it so they never have it or don't have a relationship.
I found out that there are asexuals who do have sex and enjoy having it but they are just not sexually attracted to anyone.

But this does not mean anyone is against straight lives or gay lives, etc.

I won't even read fetish ebooks because lot of them are not my cup of tea because of too much sex or other things I am not into and it's too hardcore for me.

Is no one allowed to have standards of decency because those standards might not accept every form of bigotry imaginable?

I have nothing against them, as long as they keep it to themselves.

Heteros don't make all sorts of "prides" and display something that is meant to be kept private, openly in full public view. Not twice a year. Not once a year. Not ever.

I consider all prides - regardless of which "side" it's leaning towards - as indecent exposure.

What's meant to be kept in a bedroom, is meant to be kept in a bedroom. Not to be shared with the public.

P**n should also be banned (regardless of its content/people). It's called modesty. We need more decency and modesty policies in todays world.

And I'm neither a Christian, Jew or Muslim but more like an agnostic, leaning towards atheism.

I feel the same way, especially toward evangelicals, dog-breeders/trainers, sports enthusiasts, vegans, vegetarians, Amway/Nutrilite representatives, fashion designers, psychics, telemarketers, street racers, skateboarders, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and the schizophrenic neighbor who goes off her meds every few months.

Why is them not keeping quiet about it offensive?

It depends on the context. Making a big deal out of someone telling you details of their sex life is one thing, but the people who get offended when someone mentions having a same-sex partner casually, without any references to their sex life are pretty clearly homophobic because no one has that response to someone mentioning their not-same-sex partner.

The question isn't directed at me but I feel many will have similar feelings on this topic.

Basically being loud and proud about it isn't a sign of a modest person. It makes me assume that people who are loud about it are somewhat full of themselves.

It is when they get all loud and rude about whatever their interests may be while coming down on me for not sharing their interests.

Especially that schizophrenic neighbor, she gets downright nasty.
