The Supreme Court just rejected this suit.

Two justices: Alito and Thomas, stated that they would have allowed this suit to be "filed." But did not grant any other "relief."

Will Mr. Trump demand that his appointees resign?  Will he simply try to fire them?

Or will he just send his MAGA Militia to exact revenge on those "traitors" to his cause?

Stay tuned to this Trump-Channel for further developments!

Here is another development: Secessionists filed Amicus briefs for "New California State" and "New Nevada State".  The glaring issue with the filing: "New California" and "New Nevada" are not real states.

The so-called states listed in the lawsuit are nothing more than entities proposing to become states.  The representatives of both "states" are simply conservatives advocating to split from official states.  At this point, they have no legal basis to identify as actual genuine jurisdictions, and there's no sign they have any viable prospect of ever becoming real.  Here is an excerpt from the filing...

Quote:
New California State and New Nevada State are directly impacted by the arbitrary and capricious changes in election laws and procedures occur with unfortunate regularity in the current States of California and Nevada," the lawsuit reads.  Part of the reason for the formation of New California State and New Nevada Sate is to stop the lawless actions of Governors Newsome (California) and Sisolak (Nevada).  An opinion by this Court affirming a national, uniform rule of law reestablishing the supremacy of The Electors Clause of Article II, § 1 of the United States Constitution will resolve some of the complaints causing the establishment of these new States...
I have to laugh, because the filing only served to further erode the credibility of the lawsuit, as it appears any delusional crackpot could file an Amicus brief in support of this doomed Texas petition.

# 5: Trump attempts to steal all the gold in Fort Knox for himself
# 6: Trump attempts to pardon himself for all crimes (including above-mentioned theft)
# 7: Trump attempts to declare Mar-a-Lago a sovereign state
# 8: Trump attempts to defect to Russia
# 9: Joe Biden is inaugurated as president

Here are my fears about what may happen:

# 3: Republican states attempt to dispute the election in court < - We are here!
# 4: Right wing talk show hosts and Twitter trolls gripe about how even the conservative justices of the Supreme Court have somehow been co-opted by the Deep State.
# 5: December 14: Formal electoral college vote. Biden wins.
# 6: At least one governor or other official of at least one of the battleground states (Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin) is assassinated, or at least there is an assassination attempt.
# 7. Trump preemptively pardons the assassin(s) or would-be assassin(s).
# 8: January 6: Formal counting of the electoral votes by the Senate. Republican senators and/or Mike Pence find a way to screw this up, perhaps by simply refusing to do it?
# 9: The Supreme Court is asked to rule on whether the election is still valid, despite the absence of the above formal constitutional step.
# 10: Republicans insist that the entire Electoral College vote be thrown out, in favor of a constitutional fall-back vote by House of Representatives -- in which (according to the Constitution, Article II, section 1) there would be one vote per state, not one vote per representative. (If Republicans were to succeed in getting their way on this, Trump would win.)
# 11: The Supreme Court rejects the Republican argument and orders the Senate to hold its formal vote-counting meeting belatedly, and threatens Mike Pence and the Republican Senators with contempt of court if they don't attend and behave themselves.
# 12: More griping from right wing talk show hosts and Twitter trolls about how the Supreme Court has been co-opted by the Deep State.
# 13: Trump preemptively pardons Mike Pence and the Senators, who continue to refuse to do the formal count.
# 14: The Supreme Court declares Biden the winner, despite the Senate's refusal to do its constitutional duty.
# 15: Even more griping from right wing talk show hosts and Twitter trolls about how the Supreme Court has been co-opted by the Deep State.
# 16: Assassination attempts on Supreme Court justices.
# 17. Trump preemptively pardons the assassin(s) or would-be assassin(s).
# 18: January 19: Trump leaves the country (possibly to Russia?).
# 19: January 20: The inauguration ceremony is cancelled due to bomb threats. A scaled-down inauguration ceremony, attended by only a few people, is held in a bunker somewhere, viewable to the general public via Zoom.
# 20: From overseas, Trump calls for mutiny by those U.S. soldiers who still believe that Trump is the legitimate President.
# 21: Civil war. (Hopefully the mutiny can be put down quickly, because only a minority of soldiers, and few if any of the brass, will have joined it.)

I hope my fears turn out to be unfounded, and that the inauguration happens without a hitch. We shall see.

Now where's my popcorn

As the dust settles it will be interesting to see what business interests are bankrolling the MAGA cult? Trump would never have been allowed to get past the primaries (let alone become POTUS) if he wasn't supported/funded by major business interests. I am curious who these shadowy GOP cartels are and what they are up to?

I believe it will happen without a hitch.

I believe Trump will go back to his Florida villa, think about conspiracy theories, and tweet sometimes how the election was "stolen" from him.

Trump is, most likely, preparing for 2024.

I hope he's preparing himself for a lengthy term in an orange jumpsuit.

I'm sure the claims will continue to be peddled throughout the grubby corners of the internet for years to come.

At least it will go into the same rubbish heap as the birther conspiracies, pizzagate and other loopy conspiracies that trump and Co happily retweeted and spread to his MAGA faithful.

Perhaps the relevant "major business interests" are just the right wing media and their advertisers?
