Nobody wants that.

And nobody wants to die waiting on an 18 month waiting list for a heart operation either.

The system is broken, both in the United States & the United Kingdom.

We need high quality socialist healthcare.

I think this is a good idea (the link below and what it explains) - having more say in ones own healthcare. It is coming to the NHS in different areas in the next few years.

Politically, what the working class can do is lobby to raise the limit on the personal budget. I am telling everyone this so they know what to advocate for if they want good, socialist healthcare. I am not a Conservative, economically.

Today on a hobby forum where a member is telling about their wife having had a stroke,

Quote:
first insurance statement from the first ER visit. She was there a little over two hours. $90,000. ... We are fortunate for our insurance covered all of that except for ... still have out of pocket up to $3500, ... total bill would be at least $500,000 before insurance. ... would have to declare bankruptcy, since all of our assets don't come anywhere close to that.

Quote:
On an aside, holy jeeze the prices of things! As the saying goes, 'it doesn't pay to get sick...'

Quote:
Yeah, it's pretty ironic that a country with the "greatest healthcare system in the world" can bankrupt a family in a matter of days from needing medical care...

OP said ER billing statement listed cost of that medication TPA for stroke as $70,000.
8O Yes, Not 7 thousand but 70, seventy, thousand dollars.

Okay, so, United States healthcare is worse overall than the NHS system. Does that clarify my position enough for you?

I still think the NHS is crap in its current form.

Right now my defective body is being a bastard and I can't recall what your position is other than being that what exists could be better.

Fair enough.

Well, at least you understand now. Thank you.
