Jesus compares a Canaanite woman to a dog although he still dispels her daughter's demon, so that's nice.

Matthew 15:22-28 Just then a Canaanite woman from that region came out and started shouting, ‘Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is tormented by a demon.’ 23 But he did not answer her at all. And his disciples came and urged him, saying, ‘Send her away, for she keeps shouting after us.’ 24 He answered, ‘I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.’ 25 But she came and knelt before him, saying, ‘Lord, help me.’ 26 He answered, ‘It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.’ 27 She said, ‘Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.’ 28 Then Jesus answered her, ‘Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.’ And her daughter was healed instantly.

Here's a horrific passage about killing babies at Exodus 11:4-7, 12:29-30

4 Moses said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘About midnight I will go out through Egypt. 5 Every firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne to the firstborn of the female slave who is behind the handmill and all the firstborn of the livestock. 6 Then there will be a loud cry throughout the whole land of Egypt, such as has never been or will ever be again. 7 But not a dog shall growl at any of the Israelites—not at people, not at animals—so that you may know that the Lord makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel.’

29 At midnight the Lord struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon and all the firstborn of the livestock. 30 Pharaoh arose in the night, he and all his officials and all the Egyptians, and there was a loud cry in Egypt, for there was not a house without someone dead.

Yeah, I really want to worship this god. :roll: I don't know what his problem is with babies. I adore them except when they keep me up all night.

If the Bible were more "user friendly" to the average modern reader, and more folks actually read it then...BOTH the Woke Left and the religious Right would ban together cancel it and take off the shelves in a heart beat.

Mr. Lot (mentioned above)...after they flee to a cave after the destruction of Sodom and Gomarah...his daughters get him drunk, and then in effect...rape him! The elder daughter takes he lead...mounts dad cowgirl style without him knowing. The next night they get him drunk again, and the younger daughter does it the next night. Hawt taboo kinky stuff!

After the destruction of the two cities the daughters thought that they were the only people left on earth...so had to do the rape-incest to keep the human race going.

^ Yeah, I posted that one already. It's an origin story about how the Ammonite and Moabite tribes came into being, but it's SO messed up.

I think most people just know a couple of nice scriptures and that's it. Then they think that's what the Bible is mostly like. In my opinion, unpleasantness in the Bible far outweighs the good bits. It's not even like we're picking on just a couple of scriptures that have been taken out-of-context or have been warped in any way. Even Jesus is problematic although not as bad as most characters.

I agree with Richard Dawkins: “The God of the Old Testament [i.e. the Abrahamic God] is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
