Top Ten Signs You're a Fundamentalist Christian
10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of yours.
Wrong. Outraged is an incorrect word. I am only outraged when people insult other people, as the OP did.
9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from other life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
Ridiculous in itself.
8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Triune God.
God is one, there's a difference between believing in seperate intelligences.
7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" including women, children, and trees!
Oh brother. The Egyptians enslaved the Jews. Trees? What the hell are you talking about? It's a simple principle of war in those days. If you let your enemies make a recovery, they'll come back to haunt you.
6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
Not even worth responding to.
5 - You are willing to spend your life looking for little loopholes in the scientifically established age of Earth (few billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by Bronze Age tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that Earth is a few generations old.
They didn't guess, they kept records.
4 - You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects - will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving."
Just like all other Abrahamic religions. Islam is a lot harsher.
3 - While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to "prove" Christianity.
Wrong. I think tongues are stupid.
2 - You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
I've had miracles happen to me before, but mentioning them will do nothing, as you will not believe me.
1 - You actually know a lot less than many atheists and agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history - but still call yourself a Christian.
Wrong. I could out-bible any of you, any day.
Yog-Sothoth, I wasn't trying to call people names. That's what you people were doing. And the bible says nothing about "Seven Deadly Sins." That's a Catholocism, not that there's anything wriong with that. The OP was resorting to childish name calling combined with pathetic logic. I didn't mean you people were pathetic, but that your logic was.
Chuchulainn, are you a fundamentalist christian?
Ridiculous in itself.
How?
God is one, there's a difference between believing in seperate intelligences.
well, some people believe that the trinity might have been an influence from paganism, politeism. A triune god is not exactly politeism, but does that constitute a pure monoteism, in its pure form?
Oh brother. The Egyptians enslaved the Jews. Trees? What the hell are you talking about? It's a simple principle of war in those days. If you let your enemies make a recovery, they'll come back to haunt you.
So that justifies the killing of civilians?
The question here is, did God commited genocide and the killing of innocent children?
Not even worth responding to.
Why not?
Note that this is similar to the goddess Isis and her immaculate conception.
They didn't guess, they kept records.
Can you elaborate a little?
Just like all other Abrahamic religions. Islam is a lot harsher.
well, I don't know about that, certainly the middle east Islam would be like that, although different denominations must exist that varies on that aspect, just as christianity.
I've had miracles happen to me before, but mentioning them will do nothing, as you will not believe me.
well, it depends I guess, a red sea type of miracle, it would be obvious that a lot of people wouldn't believe that.
Wrong. I could out-bible any of you, any day.
Probably, although a lot of historians and archeologists and people that are interested might have more knowledge about the origins, the history and the culture that were influences to the writings of the books that conform the Bible, which few Christians might not know about, or probably would refuse to acknowledge due to their belief of being an "incorruptible truth".

I have difficulty believing that, particularly since your bible says to torture and kill those who don't believe in your God, since we are "sinners" in your eyes. Otherwise, if you don't feel outraged by that, you should leave atheists and people of other religions alone. The same applies to these other bible-thumping fundamentalists.
Ridiculous in itself.
Believe what you want, but don't deface something that has been discovered from evidence rather than claimed from nothing with no evidence at all, equivalent to some other fairy tale story that was also made up from nothing as well.
God is one, there's a difference between believing in seperate intelligences.
Are you also aware that God is also seen as some sort of trinity figure that consists of the father, son and holy ghost?
Oh brother. The Egyptians enslaved the Jews. Trees? What the hell are you talking about? It's a simple principle of war in those days. If you let your enemies make a recovery, they'll come back to haunt you.
Yet, Jesus says to love your enemies. Bible makes no sense whatsoever. Although this point was made about how atrocities from another religion make you pissed off, but you ignore the fact that your own religion also contains atrocities. Which makes you a hypocrite.
Not even worth responding to.
I would second a guess that it's because you don't have an adequate response to this. This is another example of hypocricy commonly committed by fundamentalists that you're willfully ignorant of.
They didn't guess, they kept records.
How do you keep records of the age of the Earth when you haven't been there since the time Earth was initially formed, and don't understand how radioactivity works? Or any knowledge of physics, geology, astronomy (as opposed to astrology, which is BS in my opinion) or chemistry?
Just like all other Abrahamic religions. Islam is a lot harsher.
Missed the point again, I see. Well, I'll give you a hint--it starts with an h and ends in an e.
Wrong. I think tongues are stupid.
Meaning you have no reason to believe what you believe. You would sooner believe some fairy tale book over the plain evidence you can see right in front of you.
I've had miracles happen to me before, but mentioning them will do nothing, as you will not believe me.
People call magic tricks such because they do not understand how they work. People call miracles such because they also don't have enough knowledge of either forensics or science to understand how it works. But "miracles" working for one person but not for many who pray day by day that they won't be hit by droughts or floods, but still have floods ravage their homes isn't evidence of much.
Wrong. I could out-bible any of you, any day.
Try saying that again after you see how atrociously horrible God is. I can't imagine anyone would think of God as being good after all the people he's killed, and possibly some that didin't deserve it, or the idiotic way in which he was fool by Satan, unless you were spoonfed to believe this was actually all justified.
Perhaps you think this is all "insulting" or riduclous because you deny that this might be true of fundamentalists, including yourself. It's a typical response of them.

Saying that Islam is harsher doesn't really make Christianity look any better. Both Islam and Christianity believe in a very cruel God. In the past neither had any qualms about forcing their religion on other peoples. Christianity has just been sanitized by secularism over the last couple centuries while Islam hasn’t.
Another point, Jews don't believe that all non-Jews go to hell. I'm pretty sure their religion doesn't even have a hell. The old testament is not conclusive about the existence of hell, at least not as a place where people go to be punished.

OddBallBen: You forget, most fundamentalist Christians ARE a joke. They are the ones who supposedly espouse kindness and goodwill to everyone, and say that god will answer their prayers and look after them; then something like Hurricane Katrina or 9/11 happens and they say 'why has their god forsaken them?' Could it be that because their god doesn't exist in the first place that they weren't saved from these disasters and their prayers to an imagined deity were just pipedreams? Oh, and BTW, the biggest laugh is how they tried to laugh off any scientific evidence that the 10 plagues were natural events. I saw the National Geographic presentation on Exodus, and the Christian belief does not hold up for any of it. Take the first born thing; the reason the Egyptian first born all died was because of the mouldy toxic grain they were fed - being first born meant that they were given a bigger share, which ultimately killed them. The Jews cleaned out their grain supplies, getting rid of rats and mouldy grain, and so for did not suffer the same fate. Also, earthquakes, sandstorms and other natural events were quite common for that area, and in that time a lot of these events were said to have happened. No hand of god at all. But if anyone says otherwise, these fundamentalist jerks pooh-pooh anything that goes against their dogma and they turn a deaf ear.
Besides, it's all folklore anyway, and we only have the drunken rantings of a few bible bashers to tell us that any of it actually happened at all.

Okay, interesting little thing happenes last night (sunday night, about midnight central US time). the SQL server dies as I'm trying to post in here. Could be random tweak of events, OR, something else for the theistics in here.
ANYWAY... I really don't want to sound rude, but this is the wrong place to pick for a logic battle. That, and if you really want to pull the "I can out bible any of you" routine/card, well, all I gotta say is "STOP THE PISSING CONTEST!"
As far as miracles, I've had a few of my own. But I don't think christians have the right of it. And that's not an endorsement for anyone else either. I just think your average street-corner christian preacher is a bit worse off than a non-christian preacher. Fine line though.
Dude, really, if a letterman-style top 10 list pisses you off like that, you do not need to be out on the 'net. Burn me if you wish, but that doesn't change anything other than who decided to get younger.
