All presidents, prime ministers, etc. are politicians. Who do politicians look out for? Themselves. If they do something that is good for the people, their approval ratings increase. That benefits them, and that is why they say they care about the people. There are occasionally political leaders who care, but they are extremely rare. Sorry to burst your bubble, but George W. Bush doesn't give a dam* about you or me, kevv729.

In view of the confusion on the constitution and whether religion should be the basis of government, here is a link examining the stance of the Founding Fathers.

Tony Blair's government is currently in the process of cutting Incapacity Benefit for 2.7 Million sick and disabled people. How exactly is that benefiting us??

hmm. An interesting concept of democracy we have here, Comrades!! ! A President who is election NOT to serve the people? Is that democracy?

Is it democracy? Yes.

Is it a Decmocracy? No. It is a Democratic Republic. He is there to serve the republic, the overall governmental structure to which the people, as Rousseau suggested, subsume their freedom in return for freedom distributed in equal measure and for the protection of the state.

He is there to lead, as I said. Not to follow the dictates of popularity polls.

Again, that doesn't necessarily mean that GWB is doing that poorly or well. It simply means that that is what he is supposed to be doing.

It must take someone of an incredibly low IQ to first of all support Bush, and then to admit he is leading the world into disaster, and then say that is a good thing.

Is it necessary to make personal comments about people who disagree with you RobertN? Attack the argument, not the person! :shameonyou:

No.

He sees terrorism as a war which it is a war.

So far the world is still here.

A nice catchphrase is that "terrorist". Why is it when the US or some big government acts to kill lives on a massive scale they are are "liberators" and the lives are "collateral damage" but when private citizens organize themselves to do this on a much smaller scale they are "terrorists" and lives are suddenly precious and "murder" and "slaughter" is commited? The 'holier than though' attitude coming from the religious fundamentalists in the US is sickening and stinks of hypocrisy.

And when terrorist kills 1 or even 1000's is that being a liberator.
