If you take the reports seriously there have been aliens around at least since WWII when "foo fighters" were spotted. But it seems, aside from a few sightings, they don't do anything so why worry, who cares?

UFOs are nothing knew, contrary to what Carl Sagan promulgated. Strange objects have been seen in the skies over earth for thousands of years. There's even a biblical story about what could be classified as an Unidentified Flying Object.

and the majority of humans are stupid, superstitious animals whose opinions aren't reliable other than to verify they saw something and obviously have no clue what they saw (again, god of the gaps: some dumb human can't comprehend what they've seen and so they make up some myth about it).

Thats true(about the humans). But that doesnt detract from what I said.

yeah, i'm just saying that aliens isn't exactly the most logical jump for this one.

I dunno...

If our technology is so brilliant, why do we have so much trouble getting our Mars probes to walk out the doors of their landers?

Maybe the aliens are using their own version of Windows Vista.

I was not saying that I think it is such a far-fetched idea. I think it would be rather arrogant to assume our planet holds the only life in our universe. However, when it comes to your run-of-the-mill "Enquiring Minds Want to Know" abduction stories of UFOs and aliens, super intelligent humanoid beings...meh. I've read quite a bit on the subject, both from believers and skeptics, and just come up lacking in belief. I really like the idea though...sci-fi fan, but even Hollywood seems to lack imagination when dreaming up aliens without humanoid characteristics. But then again, who knows, maybe they are out there, maybe they are our God, and we created in their image...but I do not believe that either.

Well yeah, abduction stories and tales of close encounters of the 3rd kind are pretty much beyond the realm of plausibility.

well, I agree, but given different arguments about the issue, I think of the possibility of life being rare in the universe, if not absent, then rare, given the Rare Earth Hypothesis, at least to me, it doesn't sound that far-fetched, not either, the possibility of life being common and part of what conforms the universe, but it all comes down to be conjectures and hypothesis, and apparently, we don't seem to have evidence of this, not according to the scientific community, unless one believes Nasa is hiding "the truth" :P

Well, at least it have been demonstrated that abduction stories as well as remembering previous life events through hypnosis have been tricks played on memory.

Star Trek fan here, although not hardcore, nevertheless, it would depend if the aliens are friendly or unfriendly in order to make contact with them, perhaps we should think if it would be safe and the potential danger of it, in the sense that if they have superior technology and turn out hostiles towards humans, they could be conquerers, they could be alien-nazis or they could be exterminators :P
If that's the case, then perhaps it would be better to be alone in the universe after all ;)

I believe in aliens and that some could have the ability to travel her from other star systems, what I don't believe is all the negative stuff like anal probes I mean if they can fly a space ship from their home planet and it is five light years away I think they can premaritally erase our memories so we don't remember or better yet rewright them altogether.

There are countless elements that are responsible for life, and they are all abundant in the universe. It would be foolish to think we are the only ones, and most advanced.

A similar subject is the difference between science fiction and real science. Back in the day, nano-technology, teleportation, non-carbon based life forms, mind/machine interface, etc etc were all thought to be fiction, and these days, wouldn't you know, they are all turned out to be real! There's no doubt in my mind the UFO phenomenon will prove itself to be unquestionably real to everyone some day as well.

I believe in aliens, mainly due to odd gaps in our genetic history which suggest a certain level of genetic engineering in our development. im highly sceptical about ufo encounters, grays, reptilians and all that other stuff you hear about. other things that caught my attention are the glass like tubes on mars which nasa failed to explain in a scientifically plausible way. ancient scriptures containing scientifically accurate diagrams of the solar system, and story's of star beings who created us, and other more viable findings. alot of "information" you find about this kind of stuff seems to come from absolutely nowhere and as such im sceptical about most things in this area, especially all the many conspiracy theories, but at the same time im quite open minded about it (i mean like, although im sceptical i don't dismiss "theories" or ideas etc until i am convinced that they are proven wrong). because at the end of the day, i just don't know the whole truth, and im ok with that.

sort of like this one that fooled some skeptics

Wow, what a surprise. It's great to have you back.

Fnord, I am not trying to get you to believe in the Judeo Christian God. I like the metaphysical teachings of Jesus not the fundamentalism spouted by bible thumpers.

I've never seen an alien or ufo. I find it hard to believe that we are the most advanced race of beings in the universe.
I've said before that I believe in a spiritual realm. Perhaps this is where the aliens reside. Maybe they materialize into something we can perceive from time to time. Energy can exist without residing in a physical body.
