The unexamined life is not worth living.

I agree 100%.

Questioning your own religious beliefs, exploring the tenets of your own belief system, thinking critically about what your religion says, all these things I have done and would strongly recommend for anyone else. You're trying to paint me into some kind of corner here but it won't work because you make too many broad statements, too many stupid false assumptions.

I am Christian, therefore I support slavery, racism, etc.

These things are not exclusive to Christianity or to religion in general.

Quote:
Any religion based on the hero worship of one person, place or thing is a straw man in itself.

You don't understand what religion is.

Adherents to a religion (not exclusive to Christianity) who do not themselves seek to eradicate injustices from its tenets and beliefs is doing more harm than the good the religion is supposed to be espousing. This is why many, if not most religions are hypocritical. Oh, they practice what they preach, as I wrote above, but they are practicing the injustices written down in their scriptures. Ironic, rolling eyes.

Cleaning the house of worship topic

This is why I do not believe. I do not understand why anyone would want to practice a belief system that does not eradicate the historical evil written by such a god.

And at this point I do not believe any religion would do as I have suggested. This would not be religion.
