Europeans have a longer experience in running Empires; they already done the foolish things in the recent 2500 years.

yeah like you* could ever run out of foolish things to do :wink:

*(general "you")

edited to add- and just wanted to point out that all UN missions where Americans were not present (so pretty much EU-only) have been utter failures.

But the "EU-Empire" works not so much with troops, more with trade-agreements, selective financial help and similar means. Very effective, and avoids big headlines.

yes, indeed very effective- in spreading corruption and letting UN workers and their family members inflate their bank accounts on Cayman Islands.

By "hating our own evil" I mean seeking to decrease and curb it as much as possible -- not merely the act of hatred. :lol:

To a large degree, our personal evils are things that we're aware of and struggle with. No, instinct alone cannot thoroughly define all evil, but it's a place to start doing some inner housekeeping.

I know why our country hates The USA
We are bombarded with your media, laws and beliefs. We no longer are different from you, we are slowly becoming you. And the public doesn't like it.
I have a knowledge of americas stereotypes, schooling systems and power hungry politicians through television and films. When the presedential race was occuring it was front page news in our country. At the same time, our prime minister was making our ecomony fall apart with a proposal for a reduced VAT rate and to abolish parts of our NHS. This news was ignored because of americas news. People saw something wrong there, let me tell you.
We are also bombarded with images of severe racism originating from america, severe obesity and torture of suspected terrorists. I'm not saying I agree but it is changing the opinion quickly.
People are beginning to see britain as americas lapdog and people want britain to become independant again. Hate is spread through our infamous tabloids and people who have nothing better to do believe it.
America has its stereotypes about us, all because of a war that occured a long time ago between britain and your country. We watched a film recently, meant for children, which blatantly insulted the british in a song about the civil war. I was appalled. I don't walk around singing the simpsons to every american person I know, so why should this be shown to children for christs sake?
America has its good points and its bad. Same with britain. As much as I go on, I would still love to visit CERTAIN parts of america. I couldn't survive in alabama. I'd be chucked out of there with a shotgun in about five minutes, I reckon. Florida, hawaii (my dream holiday) perhaps alaska, and other areas would be good. I would find hollywood a laugh.

America = Number 1
Everyone else = Number 2 (at best)

America = smug, guilty, condescending
Everyone else = jealous, annoyed, depressed

America and Everyone else = locked in a love-hate spiral of epic proportions.

Me = incurably cynical

You realize that most of the "American" media is controlled by an Australian, right?

They hate us because of jealousy. Pure and simple fact.

As goes America, so goes the world, as we've seen in the recent economic downturn.

Most people don't hate the USA they hate your government. You are perhaps some of the most niavely friendly people in the world mixed with the most macavelien and materialisticaly synical. I personally love America, having actually been to visit. (L.A an SannDiago) Your flaire for inovation and optimism is truly great, but like the U.K (my country) you've fallen into the "we are the best" trap. Cure yourselves of that and you really could be world changers.

1) Don't underestimate the other nations of the world.

2) Honour the indiginous peoples in the USA.

3)Recognise that you are not seperate from your history, learn it, embrace it.

4)we may well make interstellar contact but not untill we sort this planet out. spend the space program money on wells and schools and s**t.

We don't have as much cold, hard, cash as you do, but at least we give what we have.

You also excluded the amount of military aid we give to countries like Sweden.

Sweden isn't a 3rd world nation, so including it is unnecessary given the nature of the original comment.
