The only time I would favor abortion is when a woman is raped, seeing as how the child was conceived against the mother's will.

People with low IQs should be offered a considerable sum of money to have themselves sterilized. It would slow down the growth of the world's population and simultaneously clean up the gene pool. It would also prevent many, many future abortions.

Stupid people are outbreeding the smart ones, this is the only peaceful way of reversing the current de-evolution. Until then, the more abortions the better.

I would point out one of the reasons smart people aren't breeding is cause of all the emphasis on going out and getting abortions, using birth control, etc.

Furthermore, define whom should be sterilized should autistic people be sterilized cause they are different.

Seriously while I have my concerns about the human genome, you don't need to start sterilizing people and doing mass abortions.

This is one reason why I am against abortions, cause it rapidly turns into eugenics.

yes, clearly eugenics is the way forward.

On the flipside there are a lot of people that are book smart or in academia that are complete morons when it comes to basic common sense.

Common Sense has been a poor guide to finding out how the cosmos really works. Modern physics is very contrary to common sense and it correct to 12 decimal places.

Common Sense is just the sum total of our prejudices that we acquire before the age of 16.

Not really. There would be situations where a problem with the fetus endangers the mother physically and it must be aborted to save the mother. For example; ectopic pregnancies. Such situations exist independent of sex education.

That is true if the fetus endangers the mother abortion would be the only way to save her.

Academia also has shown they have no idea how basic economics work, or how to balance a budget, which is something that someone with common sense can do.

Spend less money than one takes in. If one must borrow, borrow only what can be paid back within the time limits of the loan.

That wasn't too hard.

Every baby is a gift from God and every life is precious from conception until natural death. Life is the first basic human right and without it, we wouldn't be here.

This is not a person, it doesn't deserve to have rights that triumph the rights of actual people.

It is a relief that fetuses are not babies then.

every life is precious

This is completely untrue.

We kill tons of life forms all day. Even the most radical vegans have to kill other life forms on a daily basis, their antibodies kill bacteria and they eat plants which are Alive . Life is such a blessing and death comes with the package.

Thus with a lot of certainty I can claim that we all agree that there are life forms that are not entitled for legal protection. I am also able to claim with complete certainty that human DNA is not THE trait that makes a life form relevant as we dispose of trillions life forms with human DNA every day. Therefore, rather than claim that all life is precious, we have to admit the fact that it is not true for our legal system and instead find a dividing line between what forms of life is it ok to terminate.

From my point of view, it would be irrational to make that line conception, as explained what is literally just a bunch of cells without even a shape is not a person. So, for time 0 , I can claim that a zygote is not a person.

If we fast forward to 9 months, that's the moment of birth, it would be hard to expect birth to bring some magical properties to the fetus that would turn it into a human being, and premature birth is possible to be done artificially. So, I can now claim that something like 8 months old fetus is likely already a person.

So, sometime between conception and 8 months, a thing became a human being,. It should be impossible to find the exact moment, but we do not have to. We can instead just try to reduce the gap as much as possible and come up with an argument that explains when it should be 100% safe to say that the thing is not a person. In my opinion, 23 weeks is a perfectly reasonable time, thalamic brain connections don't appear until around the 26-th week, and without connections to sensory organs, the fetus' is basically unplugged from the body, which would be hard to believe that such fetus has a human consciousness. Why 23 and not 26 weeks? Well, those 3 weeks give a margin of error as some fetuses may develop faster than others and we may also make mistakes in measuring the weeks between conception.

Thus I think that abortion should be legal and it is a basic human right until at least the 23-th week if not more.

Isn't that the picture of first cell division, your case kinda falls apart.

Actually they are, I've already proven that point in a seperate thread.

A head of lettuce =/= a human life.
