Isn't that the picture of first cell division, your case kinda falls apart.

You may be interested to find out what the word conception means. The picture I provided happens after conception. And it is a response to the claim that "every life is precious from conception...". A claim that is as ridiculous as heck.

Actually they are, I've already proven that point in a seperate thread.

I remember you proving that you don't know how to use dictionaries.

A head of lettuce =/= a human life.

And neither is an early fetus.
Don't forget the rest of the argument. Hey, I am posting it again so that your selective quotation doesn't make it go away.

I am also able to claim with complete certainty that human DNA is not THE trait that makes a life form relevant as we dispose of trillions life forms with human DNA every day. Therefore, rather than claim that all life is precious, we have to admit the fact that it is not true for our legal system and instead find a dividing line between what forms of life is it ok to terminate.

From my point of view, it would be irrational to make that line conception, as explained what is literally just a bunch of cells without even a shape is not a person. So, for time 0 , I can claim that a zygote is not a person.

If we fast forward to 9 months, that's the moment of birth, it would be hard to expect birth to bring some magical properties to the fetus that would turn it into a human being, and premature birth is possible to be done artificially. So, I can now claim that something like 8 months old fetus is likely already a person.

So, sometime between conception and 8 months, a thing became a human being,. It should be impossible to find the exact moment, but we do not have to. We can instead just try to reduce the gap as much as possible and come up with an argument that explains when it should be 100% safe to say that the thing is not a person. In my opinion, 23 weeks is a perfectly reasonable time, thalamic brain connections don't appear until around the 26-th week, and without connections to sensory organs, the fetus' is basically unplugged from the body, which would be hard to believe that such fetus has a human consciousness. Why 23 and not 26 weeks? Well, those 3 weeks give a margin of error as some fetuses may develop faster than others and we may also make mistakes in measuring the weeks between conception.

Thus I think that abortion should be legal and it is a basic human right until at least the 23-th week if not more.

Considering how rapidly the number of cells increase, your argument really doesn't hold water. There is a heart beat before we are even 1 month into the pregnency. There is brain activity 47 days into pregnency (and it could be even earlier than that).

No all you proved is more recent dictionaries have been changed to be politically correct, which actually proved my point.

A word can have more than one definition (which is quite common in the English language), and among the definitions of a child is fetus, or unborn baby.

My definition of life has to do with the first brain activity which is first detectable around 47 days after conception. I don't care how primitive the activity is, because the complexity is going to increase at an astonishing pace.

Except the termination of the cells such as individual sperm cells and skin cells do not result in the death of a human being. We are a multi-celled organism than has well over a billion cells.

You are comparing the loss of individual cells (which new cells take their place) to actually killing another human being. The genetic code of the child is not the same as the genetic code of the mother, therefore the child is a different human being and not simply a clump of cells like you are making the child out to be.

You've also claimed a fetus isn't a person. I'm sticking with my detection of brain activity, I could move up the date to the first heartbeat if you'd like.

My little sister was a premie, if I remember correctly she was less than 8 months into the pregnency and she turned out being perfectly normal.

Tell that to my sister whom was 2.5 months early as in 6.5 months into the pregnency. So you're telling my my sister whom is an adult now, wasn't a person...

Inuyasha,

So what?

I have long ago set out my belief that a foetus is a living, human being.

Abortion is the killing of an distinct human being. I acknolwedge that fully.

And still, in the fact of that acknowledgement, I am prepared to favour the right of a pregnant woman to the security of her person, until 20 weeks gestational age.

Instead of clinging to emotional arguments, let's talk about the 93 day gap between 47 days and 140 days.

I'm not going to move my line at all, in my view the brain is what determines whether or not we're alive.

Unlike someone is a coma, the child in the womb's brain is developing at an astronomical rate, we aren't simply hoping for a recovery of one's ability to function like in the situation of brain damage. Instead, we're looking at a rapid improvement and complexity of brain function.

So my statement of when the brain is first firing off electrical signals being the time when life begins has to do with the idea that our brain is our CPU, and unlike the CPU in a computer, our CPU actually grows and becomes more complex.

You are starting to BS us.

The number of cells increases rapidly, but the target number of cells is very high. Even so, you are not arguing against my claim that humanity certainly does not begin at conception. You are still acknowledging it begins sometime after conception, even you are admitting that at time 0 (conception time) the thing is just a cell.

So, even you agree that abortion before that is fair and square.

But however, repeating a lie a thousand of times does not make it true. Your brain activity BS has been explained away a thousand of times. There may be electrical impulses, but so does my leg have electrical impulses, it does not mean it has a consciousness of its own.

Instead, the lack of thalamic brain is a clear indicator that human consciousness is definitely impossible before the 26-th week.

You proved you actually believe that a dictionary explaining that idiots may use the word infant to refer to a fetus means a fetus is an infant. You do not understand how alternate definitions in the dictionary work. Even your 1970s dictionary would leave the infant = fetus thing as a secondary use.

More so, more updated definitions are... well, more updated. Just like we already know the earth is not 6000 years old, knowledge updates itself.

We are not even talking about primitive brain activity. We are talking about electrical impulses inside a brain that is not plugged to sensorial organs. Since electrical impulses are present in every nervous tissue and not just the brain, it is not brain activity.

Who knows, maybe she wasn't a person. And the machines allowed her to develop into one.

So, here's my new proposal: If there is a way to make the fetus grow up into a human being, with any sort of technology, extract the fetus and put it into the technology instead of aborting it. If it does not survive even with the technology, well, tough luck, it wasn't viable.

BS. Girls often go through hormonal puberty before they're physically mature, meaning that they can become pregnant long before their bodies are capable of safely delivering. With puberty occurring earlier and earlier in western countries, this is going to be more and more of a problem.

Pregnancy is no more a 'blessing from god' to a 12 year old than rainfall that causes a flood is a blessing to farmers.

What's the morning after pill have to do with abortion?

Brain activity begins before most women even realize they are pregnent.

I actually don't care about the explanation given by the pro-abortion side. I said when the first brain activity is detected, I'm not going to play games.

You do realize that the child's brain doesn't have to process sensory stimulii that a human outside of the womb would have to.

Seriously your attempts at playing mind games aren't working, I know perfectly well if there is a second definition for a word, that second definition is just as valid as the first one, otherwise newborn baby wouldn't count as a child...

Depends on the reason why they "updated" the definition, and it wouldn't be the first time a stunt like this has been pulled. Such as the attempt to make the Declaration of Independence politically correct in a history textbook.

Oh, wait, there was a link to such photos in the original post... haha. My apologies.

I got bored after the fifth image, though.

Did the girls/women who had the abortions done approve of these images going public, though? If not, then THAT would be offensive, and only that.

Many pro-abortion groups do get angry when those pictures get out because it shows just what abortion really is.

When the Republicans succeed in gutting food stamps for pregnant women I think we should show them pictures of all of the miscarriages that result from the starving pregnant women.

I'm sorry, you seem to have trouble interpreting what I said. I'm not angry with the photos going public. But it bothers me if those who had the abortions done did not approve of them going public. They should have the full right to choose what can and cannot go public that had to do with their abortions. It has nothing to do with the pictured waste material of the parasite that was removed, but the rights of the girls/women. Maybe THAT is what those pro-abortion groups you are mentioning get angry at? That consent wasn't given, for the publication of such photos - or the mere taking of them - from the person who was having an abortion done.

It is not a child.

If the fetus gets in 'danger', then it was not viable, and there was no reason to consider it a human being.

So, either it is a human being that will be born with the help of machines or a non-human that is not viable and will die. So, this idea should really work and make you happy. You were afterall the one who kept saying things about how the fetus is not part of the woman's body and could be viable by itself and stuff. So, let's take you word. If a 43 days embryo is already a human being it shouldn't have much issue of developing inside a controlled environment with the aid of machines.

Actually due to the genetic code and the fact there is a heart beat and brain activity, the child is by definition a human being, to deny that child is a human being is the same thing as saying you Vexcalibur are not a human being.

That's what this all boils down to.

That is extremely dangerous irregardless and any reputable doctor would tell you that. To pull a child out like that too early carries a lot of risks which is putting someone's life in danger for the sake of someone else's conveinence.

Actually I'm saying that you shouldn't run around comparing human children as having the value of being nothing more than rodents like rats. Rodents and humans are not even remotely the same species.

By that example, whenever someone has to be put on life support due to an injury, they are no longer a human being. Guess we should just pull the plug on everyone needing open heart surgery.

1. Have the common courtesy to spell my name correctly Vexcalibur.

2. Contrary to what you would like people to think I actually can back up what I stated.

A textbook publisher known for painting a sunny, non-violent picture of Islamic jihad in its history books has rewritten part of the Declaration of Independence.

The Lone Star Report revealed that a fifth grader in Ector County Independent School District in Odessa, Texas, was told to memorize the Declaration of Independence as printed in "History Alive! America's Past," published by the Teachers' Curriculum Institute, or TCI.

But there was one hitch – an essential word had been altered.
