Oh okay I see. But how did Chauvin escalate the tensions, though since the murder he commited did not seem to be politically motivated, so why are both sides taking it as a political thing therefore?

Merriam-Webster - Tipping Point
Quote:
the critical point in a situation, process, or system beyond which a significant and often unstoppable effect or change takes place

But why was Chauvin the tipping point? What made Chauvin, so anti-democratic, and pro-republican that it started a war of riots?

If I could figure out why certain incidents spark a massive change why the same type of incidents occurring many times before do not I would be very rich.

With Chauvin I think the pandemic with people unemployed, cooped up, and bored for a lengthy period of time beforehand had a lot to do with it.

The fact that all 8min and 46 second seconds were caught on camera with Chauvin arrogantly kneeling on George Floyd's neck while Floyd was audibly struggling to breath and knowing he was being filmed might have been the trigger rather than a slow news day or COVID boredom

That is an interesting one. I would have expected it would make more sense being discussed over at https://wrongplanet.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=391253...

There have been of multitudes of videos of cops killing black people including a number of “I can’t breath” videos. While these have often caused protests and an occasional riot there has been no reaction as remotely as widespread, not even in the 60s. More than 30 states had to call out the National Guard and more then 200 cities imposed curfews. Beyond the riots there were peaceful protests everyday for weeks and protests in practically every locale including cop towns, lily white places, suburbs, rural areas, redneck towns.

On a side-note: Disney said it's closing at least 60 stores in North America, amounting to about 35% of its locations in the region.  Disney, which didn't release a list of stores that will close, has about 300 locations worldwide.  It had nearly 800 locations globally at its peak in 1999.

Prior to Floyd's death the imagery posted wasn't as graphic and my recollection its the first video showing a cop with a smirk on his face while slowly torturing a person to death. I think pundits have suggested it was all building up and Geoirge Floyd's viral video was the straw that broke the camel's back (so to speak)

A question posed about providing proof of cancel culture on the Dr Suess thread produced reactions that resulted in the thread being locked.

So I'll pose the question here, what proof is there that Gina Carano is a "victim" of so called cancel culture and not a victim of her own inability to curtail her inflammatory views.

This time keep your responses civil

Considering the emotive and judgemental language used in the question, it might be better if you outlined what you would accept as "proof" - The langauge used could give rise to a belief that even a signed letter by Disney executives that "cancel culture" was the reason for her firing may not be suficient, and so anything less than the expected level of "proof" would be liable to provoke further arguments as to whether it was sufficient.

There has already been a large amount of "proof" provided in the thread (from both sides), so most "undecided" people should have sufficient information to come to their own conclusions already. At this point, it would be much more productive for those who feel they haven't seen enough information to indicate with some degree of specificity what they would require (either in terms of new evidence, or explanation\clarification of existing information) to be supplied in order to assist them to make their own decision on what the cause of her firing was...

Some of the transcript:
And finally new rule, liberals need a "Stand Your Ground Law" for Cancel Culture, so that when the woke mob comes after you for some ridiculous offense, you'll stand your ground. Stop apologizing! Because i can't keep up anymore with who's on the s**t list.......

And this muddying the water is unfortunate because Cancel Culture is real, it's insane and it's growing exponentially, and it's coming to a neighborhood near you. If you think it's just for celebrities, no, in an era where everyone is online, everyone is a public figure ........

The Mandalorians' Gina Carano is a person i'd never heard of and resent that I have now. She's some conservative wrestling chick who kicks ass on a show I wouldn't watch if i was in prison, and she made some nazi analogy. Who doesn't these days? You're like the nazis is the new "I don't like you". It's always ok with "Trump The Nazi". That disqualifies her for marching around planet who gives a s**t in a helmet?

By the way, "You can't work in Hollywood if you don't believe what we believe", yeah in the 50s that's exactly what the left complained they were being told.

-------
Note: Although I agree with what most of what he says in the video, he shows statistics, statistics that came from libertarian institutions, which are to take them with great skepticism.

But when Gina Carano stood up for herself and stood her ground against cancel culture coming after her, and standing up to the mob, she is then fired for it.

So what do you do when standing your ground gets you fired?

Next time, ask yourself what all good soldiers ask themselves: "Do I really want to die defending this hill alone?"

If the answer is 'Yes', then have another job lined up before you take a stand.

If the answer is 'No', then it may be a good idea to secure another job anyway.
