I agree with you about the Evangelicals.
As for the Native American remark,my point was they are the only ones here that have a right to b***h about immigrants.I am very aware of the way the Natives were treated,I have a small amount of Native blood.The Pope can say what he wants about the politics in other countries,just like I can also comment about what goes on elsewhere.It doesn't mean I'm right in my opinions,I just have the right to speak them.

Well sure, I suppose pope Francis has the right to an opinion as any other human does but as the head of the Roman Catholic faith I do not think it is appropriate for him to involve himself in politics if there truly is a separation of church and state and as mentioned I feel the same way about these Evangelical leaders as well who I see having much more influence in this country. I feel like a lot of 'observant' Catholics hear what they want to hear from their faith and ignore the parts they don't like or disagree with but that is probably true for all religions I would guess. We hear the media talk so much about what Francis said about immigration and our border but what about abortion? What about war? What about the genocide that is taking place in the middle east against Christians? Where are the all liberals speaking out on these issues? The media and the politicians just make me sick, they really think we're stupid. If the pope thinks it is such a good idea to comment on our politics, then what does he have to say about this whole Planned Parenthood debacle? You can't pick and choose your beliefs.

As for the natives, I feel bad for them but I don't agree that we have no right to learn from their mistakes. We also can't fall for this 'noble savage' myth either, these peoples had the same problems as the rest of the world. I remember reading that the Eskimos in Alaska are not actually native, there were a people here before them that they came and conquered so it's all the same.

Popes rarely commented upon American politics during the pre JFK era (most of) American history. But that didnt stop most Americans from being terrified of a Catholic being in the Oval Office during that time.

Its not Popes sounding off, it's a President who actually "takes orders from the Vatican" that Americans were afraid of. Not the same thing.

BTW: both the Pope, and Trump, seemed to have verbally "kissed and made up" on the AM news.

While I would agree that there are simultaneous genocidal campaigns going, what is happening in the Middle East is among the most complete. It won't be long until there are no Christians in the supposed holy land, they've been driven out by war and Islamist militants which I think deserves special recognition from the pope given that he is supposedly the leader of the Christian faith. What ISIS and these other Islamist militias are doing is genocide no doubt about it; to Christians, Yazidis, Shia, and anyone else that does not follow their wicked brand of Islam. The worst part about all of this is the responsibility for this ultimately can be traced backed to the west.

The people want a wall so build a wall, our border should be protected and while I don't think a wall solves our immigration problems, it does carry a symbolic importance as well as a security one. What really needs addressing is 'legal immigration' and all these work visas. If we enforced the law and made it clear that people illegally entering our country will be arrested and returned home then they won't come, Mexico and Central America aren't just all the sudden really poor and violent so why is this mass migration happening now? It's simply because of our governments refusal to enforce it's own laws and the corporate fascists who want to undercut American wages. They try to tell us this is impossible, that it is so draconian, but it has happened before and we spent 2 TRILLION dollars in Iraq doing exactly what? We burn money in this country, we just need the will to actually solves our issues instead giving fat checks to the ruling oligarchy.

Pope Francis lectures the United States on immigration but what about Latin America? The US has 6x more migrants than Latin America COMBINED, yet why are no refugees going there? Why aren't these desperate people going south? For all the moralizing these countries do against us, they are more racist and unequal than almost anywhere in the world. Latin American culture is the future of the US, one where societies are separated by a small autocratic ruling class who live in compounds and behind walls and then a huge underclass of people that live in abject poverty. The reason these countries lecture us so much is because of how racist they are, we are taking the "undesirables" away from their countries that they'd just as soon kill. Look at their politicians and television, those aren't who are coming over our border. Mexico is always disappearing student protesters, they have no grounds to say anything about human rights. Getting tough with Mexico and the rest of Latin America is exactly the medicine they need, their governments are hopelessly corrupt and maintaining our current policies will just make things even worse.

If we had such meddling pope before that time do you think JFK would of even be elected? The belief a Catholic president might influenced by the pope was a fear and I think it was a fear since the beginning of this country. There is a reason why there is separation of church and state in this country and our founders were very cognizant of this idea that we should not have a president with conflicting loyalties which is why we have the requirement of being a natural born citizen which I believe has been warped from it's original meaning and intent and should defined. I believe a natural born citizen should be someone born on US territory to at least 1 American citizen, someone that doesn't have dual citizenship and conflicting allegiances. Based on this I don't think Ted Cruz is eligible for the office of presidency but that's another subject.

Again just to reiterate, I feel the same way about Evangelical leaders in this country as well. I do not like it when we have someone like Ted Cruz and Mike Huckabee try to utilize religious leaders for their political benefit.

From your beliefs about this current Pope, and your belief in the Rapture, I dare say Catholicism is probably glad you departed.

And for another post of yours regarding the King James Bible: generally, while it's not a bad translation, neither is it a great one. I personally wouldn't hang the whole of my theology on it.
And as a matter of fact, while I am hardly a Biblical scholar, we Lutherans take pride in our Biblical literacy, not to brag. Thus I can say that all that Rapture and left behind crap is just that - - crap.

The conditions are bad in many of those countries,that's true.But unless the people revolt there's not much anybody can do about it,It seems like one corrupt official goes down and two more take the place,they are like the Hydra.
The war in Iraq was a waste of money and lives,and our own weapons were used against us.I certainly wasn't for it.

Personally, I think all religion is "crap". But that's just my opinion. I respect anyone who believes in said 'crap", as long as they don't try to impose it on me.
