That is the playbook of a growing and significant wing of the Democratic Party and Progressive movement in general. The Democratic establishment is resisting it.
I am pretty convinced they were laughing AT him. As a person on the spectrum, I am not the best judge of these things but plenty of NT's interpreted it that way also.
As he is the chief executive of this country that elected him they are indirectly laughing at us. I do not want to find out but imagine how the world would react if we rehired him.

We should all be allowed to like or dislike whichever politicians and political parties that we choose and air our view publicly on them without receiving abuse for it.
I do appreciate that there will always be some who take personal offence at your political views and decide to attack you as if they themselves have been insulted, but they are in a small minority and I think most people can see what they are doing.
But you know something? Before Trump came along Republicans and Democrats were somewhat civil to each other. They may have strongly disagreed about things but they never visciously attacked each other with cruel insults and threats like they do now.
Thank you Mr. President for turning your own people in your own country against each other over stupid bullcrap instead of uniting them together like a REAL leader would.
