For that matter who's to say little kids, old ladies and cripples can't be sinners? But I think we're overthinking this. 8)

This isn't even true in the new testament, but is indeed true in the old testament.

Jesus in the new testament is supposed to be the son of God, and brings with him a new message of morality to fix the hatred of the old testament & its teachings, which included hatred for those groups you describe, such as pagans, gays and other innocents.

In the new testament, everyone has a chance to go to heaven, if they are good people.

^ The United States is more grounded in the old testament, whereas western European churches are more grounded in the new testament, in line with its more metropolitan, cultural values.

The future of Christianity lies in the new testament.
