Well you have to admit a large component of American politics stems from that era. It has ebbed a little, but not nearly enough.

I’ve seen many pickets and signs. I’m no fan of Bush or Blair but there were some dumb signs made of those two. However, I am simply astounded at the number of ironic signs in these teabag protests. You couldn’t make it up.
I agree...but at least they call for mistakes that we haven't already made as a country....just mistakes that others have made. This current incarnation is calling for us to make the same mistakes we've already made a la McCarthyism.
And yes, it very much established our identity because we made our identity back then "not the USSR". We can't base our identity anymore on not being another country...that's Canada's bag, anyways.
