No.

well, it can be said that for baby a mother would be everything to him, so it would not be hard to think that for a baby a mother would be like a supreme being that can do anything.

Quote:
But they do acknowledge their mother's existence otherwise they would not cry for her attention.

well, the question is about recognizing other people as people and at what age they start to acknowledge the existence of their mother as a living being and as a person. If they are hungry, they would just cry for the food because it is not there at the time they need it, and the attention thing, well, the issue is wether babies assume that a parent or someone giving them attention to be lifeless objects or not.

Stones would not cry out unless they believed in God.

2) Babies are at least as smart as stones if not smarter than stones.

3) Therefore, babies believe in God.

Therefore, only the smart believes in God?

Babies believe in a supple nipple that dispenses warm nourishing milk. When God offers me nourishment instead of constant threats of destruction that I must acrobatically maneuver around to get my nourishment, I will examine the possibility of God more carefully.

Orwell, I never said that rocks were the dumbest beings that could believe in God, only that babies are somewhat smarter than rocks.

I am not sure if you have given a rock an IQ test, but they don't generally do well.

I just had a bizarre mental image of a deranged smiley face asking a boulder to complete an analogy and rearrange some blocks.

Despite the general contempt demonstrated for rocks around here, they created the solar system and this fertile and rather beautiful planet, a project which is still somewhat beyond humanity with all its vaunted intellect.

Good point, Sand. We should elect a nice solid granite President.

That should do nicely.

I can't say if it's encouraging but the present US government seems to be acting decidedly as if it had rocks in its heads.

Whether Christian, Agnostic, Atheist, or any other religion or lack of, what about people who worship at the altars of sex, love, money, power, drugs, crime, etc., first and foremost? Are they false idol worshippers, polytheists, merely misguided, satanic, what?

Naah! They know the value of things and they probably have the price.

In my personal opinion, I think that the concept of agnosticism (its common meaning is denial of ultimate knowledge of the existence of God or lack of knowledge about God/s) is totally useless and nonsense.

How many Christians say "God has his mysterious ways" ? , then those Christians are partly agnostics since they lack the ultimate of God and his ways.

Agnosticism is like : "oh , I am not sure if god exists, but if he may exists then I am not sure whether he is God , Allah or Akiwawa."

Agnosticism takes neutral ground and claim that the evidence and arguments on both sides of the debate over the existence of God are basically equal. To them , neither side has the advantage and so they avoid to take any side.

Also agnostics are seen as people who are no-committed to any religion people, how many Christians and Muslims are like this? There are plenty. Agnosticism is a lack of knowledge, not lack of commitment and not even a lack of belief, a belief means accept a specific proposition as totally true no-matter what and even agnostics may believe in one of the gods.

Agnosticism claims that no one has the humans are simply not capable to prove whether a creator/supreme being/akiwawa exists or not.

Agnosticism is not as reasonable as it might at first seem. Atheism is simple math and its only position in the god/no-god argument that logic supports unless anyone can offer any suggestive evidence that the god theory may be correct which would result in changed probabilities through changed constants, no one has done that yet.

I would like to think of agnosticism as rather one who keeps asking questions like a scientist rather then summing up everything with a be-all-end-all conclusion. I only base my conclusions on what's been proven, but even that which has been proven may change in time.

I think Benjamin Franklin couldn't have said it better:

"Nothing is certain but death and taxes."
