Look what I found

Quote:
In the House, the man who's expected to be the new speaker, John Boehner, says he's received a congratulatory phone call from Obama. He says he told Obama that Americans expect them to cut spending and create jobs.

In other words, Boehner plans to promote chastity by running a brothel. The lunatics have taken over the House of Representatives.

Government isn't the only way to create jobs.

Those sound like two psychotic wackos, but claiming tea partiers and all groups that are conservative are like them is blatently dishonest.

I'm not accusing the cops in the article of being dishonest on what happened to them; I'm accusing CBS News of using incidents involving a few nutcases and trying to pain every conservative or person who disagrees with Obama as wackos.

Agreed. It is unfair to point to NWO conspiracy nuts as representative of conservatives as a whole, or even as representative of the Tea Parties. You have a number of those wackos in the GOP, and at a somewhat higher concentration in the Tea Party, but those folks are way out on the fringe even by Tea Party standards.

Does that mean the left is free of wackos? Do eco-terrorists, pot smoking hippies, anarchists, and Black and Mexican militant groups not count as wacko?

Also, I'm glad at least someone is happy that a self-avowed communist won.

Who are you referring to as a self-avowed communist? Now i'm not disputing you, the person in question may very well be just that. It would be news to me however and furthermore, as a libertarian socialist (at least in terms of what I believe would be an ideal model for society that likely can never be realized) I don't always view communists as an unqualified evil.

Well....I will take full responsibility for any misinterpretations of what I was trying to say. My point about the TP was little more than the bolded part in your statement. All I can do is call things as I see them, hopefully without bias and with credible and sufficient evidence to back up my claims. I do believe that a disproportionate amount of extreme right-wingers who are inclined towards physical violence would graviate towards TP ideas and candidates. I would go as far as saying more so than the majority of other political groups in contemporary America.

For example....I will press objectivists into service. There are few political/ideological/philosophical ideas which are more opposed to my own worldviews more than objectivism. In fact....I might even have more in common in this sense with many of the tea partiers. Nonetheless....objectivists hardly strike me as people with any greater propensity towards physical violence than most of my fellow lib socialists are. Most of them seem to be rather meek academic types who would tremble at the sight of their own shadow. Many of the male Tea Partiers seem quite a bit more macho, aggressive, irrational and perhaps less intelligent (or at least less educated than objectivists) overall than many objectivists. I just see the Tea Party as a movement which is made up of quite a few disorganized yahoo psychopaths like this guy and his son who murdered the police officers. It is pretty bad when even the late Dr. William Pierce would likely dismiss many of the tea partiers as unnecessarily aggressive and moronic rubes. One thing is certain IMO...conservatism and party that claims to represent it no longer has much in common with that late conservative icon, Senator Barry Goldwater. The good senator was about the only self-proclaimed conservative I would ever even consider voting for. Conservatism really started going bats**t crazy when Ronnie Reagan became it's highest god among a legion of lesser ones. The marriage of corporate and plutocratic convenience between that absurd old swine and Jerry Falwell's moral majority was one of the critical nails in this countries' coffin IMO.

How many people are actually physically harmed/killed by "eco-terrorists" every year? Pot-smoking hippies? I suppose you've never been to a Grateful Dead concert. Those pot-smoking hippies at the gatherings of the unwashed bohemian tribes really had me running scared  Anarchists are such tiny minority and the physically violent ones are but a handful within this minority. This bunch is really not even worth mentioning. You might as well start viewing the so-called "Black Metal Mafia" active in Norway in the early 90's as a significant threat to society. Those corpse-painted clowns were little more than a bunch of bumbling, alienated and angst-ridden adolescents who burned a few churches and committed a few ill-conceived murders. They were summarily hauled off to jail for these crimes and now they're little more than a joke. What can be said of a motley crue of disorganized neo-fascists and ridiculous "occultists" who took Tolkien's nefarious characters a bit too seriously? Essentially the same thing that can be said of the inconsequential amount of violent anarchists in our midst. Last... but not least.....Black and Mexican militant groups are almost as much of a petty nuisance as the violent anarchists and black metallers. In fact....I hardly view the members of these groups as true leftists at all. I seriously doubt leftists like Ralph Nader and Noam Chomsky would consider joining forces with them. If you are talking about Black and Mexican GANGS....i'd say most of them are merely aspiring businessmen with no more use for leftist worldviews than a Nile Crocodile has. IOW.....they are the criminalized mirror of many of your exalted "legitimate" businessmen.

Now we can talk about those who are more or less on your side of the political spectrum. The KKK, the neo-nazis, the violent anti-abortion crowd, gay bashers, radical christians, militia group members, social darwinist elitists, white collar criminal REPUBLICANS/CONSERVATIVES like Don Blankenship, the Koch brothers, the Fanjul sugar barons here in S. Florida, the hedonistic, nihilistic, self-entitled self-absorbed, cigar-sucking "businessmen" who betray their own country and mother earth herself on a daily basis, etc...ad nauseum. All told....I firmly believe this charming crowd will do qualitatively and quantitatively more harm (if only for want of opportunity on the part of the nazis) to humanity and much other life on this earth than the nazis ever did. Furthermore.....at least the nazis, Hitler included, seemed to believe in SOMETHING (twisted, irrational and perverted though it was) beyond their own crude and superfluous accumulation of wealth, vulgar hedonism and preposterous self-entitlement. Sorry....but I will finally say this and never offer any apology for it:

I find many modern self-identified American conservatives to be the most repulsive group of humans who've ever walked this earth. It would seem as though i'm in fairly good company as a huge proportion of Europeans, Canadians, Australians and other western/westernized peoples are utterly baffled and horrified by the modern conservative movement in America. Not to mention a great number of people in the developed world. I hate to flirt with argumentum ad populum fallacies here....but really...at what point must one question a group of like-minded individuals who are almost universally despised except in a very sick country in which they make up a large percentage of the population.... if not the majority?

I'm happy. My congressman of 28 years is out...finally.

Used dirty politics and misrepresentations (fear tactics) to get in then milked every perk of the office to perpetually campaign for re-election.

Not a "bad" guy, but after 10 years, it's time for a change.

While it probably won't be enough, the dems are out of power to the point that they can't rubber-stamp what Obama wants to do, but it's not enough to expect any of his nonsense to be undone or fixed.

Truth. It will take a major transformation of the party structure the enable really new approaches to governances. We have not had that since the collapse of the Whig party in the U.S. in the late 1850's. That is when the Republican Party, an anti-slavery party was formed. Abraham Lincoln was its earliest success story.

We have to find some way undoing corporate corruption without, at the same time, instituting a centrally controlled welfare state. I wish I knew how. It is very frustrating knowing WHAT to do but not knowing HOW to do it.

As an outsider, the way I see it is that the "GOP" component of the Republican Party (the establishment republicans) are currently in a two front war, squeezed between the Democrats on the Centre and the Tea Party on the right. And whichever way they react, they will provide the Democrats with an opportunity to secure four more years in the White House.

If they try to take on the Tea Party on their own turf they risk alienating the center, leaving it open for the Democrats, and threatening a further split in the party.

A far better strategy is to engage with the conservative Democrats and demonstrate that the Republican leadership is capable of governing. The Tea Party may be nothing more that a flash in the pan that will lose its momentum as the economic recovery begins to firm up. If that's the case, the long term strategy should be to make a bid for the center. The Democrats benefit under this strategy because they have to move to the center to shore up their position, increasingly the liklihood of bipartisan initiatives for which they can share credit.

It's 1994 all over again--but this time with a Speaker who has a strong motivation to work cooperatively.

There are collectivist anarchists, haha.
