In what way, for all of Beck's antics (and if you watched his show at length) he is kind of like a conservative version of John Stewart or Stephan Colbert though more seriously oriented on the news.

You mistake him trying to be a comedian for being nuts.

Yes, he is a comedian at times, that doesn't mean he is not sane. A lot of people use humor to keep from getting too depressed. He also enjoys poking fun at himself as well as the made up stories about him by the far-left.

i thought to be funny by pasting a picture of the lewis prothero character, but when i typed the name into the google images search bar, google suggested "glenn beck" and i just felt so late-to-the-party.

waltur if you did something like that, I think Glenn Beck would just laugh about it. Though you would also be getting ripped off because Soros pays people to pull stunts like that on a regular basis.

Translation: Glenn Beck has a sense of humor and enjoys poking fun at himself, he'd probably find it hilarious.

the conspiracy-nut in me agrees with you. i like to spread the idea that glenn beck is this era's greatest comedian. even greater than the other guy who does what he does, but not as good. you know who i'm talking about. that guy'll never be as good as beck because he won't commit to it.

or that guy who wrote "the prince" and is perpetually remembered for the ideals it favored (especially ideals that were mistranslated to be even worse, like "the ends justify the means.") and the rest of his writings (which show "the prince" to be a hilarious satire), are glossed over.

of course, this is just conspiracy-nut silliness, when it comes to beck.

right?

....i doubt you could find a more hilarious troll on 4chan.

i don't see any reason to disbelieve him when he says things like "i could give a flying crap about the political process"

Lacey Rose, writing for Forbes Magazine wrote:
With a deadpan, Beck insists that he is not political: "I could give a flying crap about the political process." Making money, on the other hand, is to be taken very seriously, and controversy is its own coinage. "We're an entertainment company," Beck says. He has managed to monetize virtually everything that comes out of his mouth. He gets $13 million a year from print (books plus the ten-issue-a-year magazine Fusion). Radio brings in $10 million. Digital (including a newsletter, the ad-supported Glennbeck.com and merchandise) pulls in $4 million. Speaking and events are good for $3 million and television for $2 million. Over several days in mid-March Beck allowed a reporter to follow him through his multimedia incarnations, with one exception, his 5 p.m. daily show on Fox News, which attracts just under 3 million viewers. (FORBES has a relationship with that channel via Forbes on Fox.)
