Glenn Beck apparently has said he does not believe Obama is a muslim.

As posted earlier, I watch Glenn Beck a couple times a week when it reruns late at night. I've also read two of his books. I've never watched MSNBC (ever) or visited Moveon.org.

I'm going back quite awhile, before Obama was elected president. Glenn Beck didn't say Obama was currently a Muslim, but claimed that he was once a Muslim and it was dangerous for the country to elect a president who sympathized with Muslims.

In 2010 Glenn Beck says," President Obama is not a Muslim. I’m taking his word that he is a Christian. But here’s where it falls apart for many Americans: It’s a Christianity that most Americans just don’t recognize.
I don’t know what that is, other than he’s not Muslim, he’s not Christian. He’s a perversion of the gospel of Jesus Christ as most Christians know it."

That's quite a statement from Glenn Beck, the Mormon.

It's absurd that people are so concerned whether he's a "true Christian"(TM) or not. There's so many damned religious xenophobes in this country. I wouldn't be surprised if he's an agnostic or atheist who had to lie about his faith because nobody will even elect a non-Christian in this country. I'm sure plenty of Republicans lie about their faith.

Actually Beck makes a pretty good point about Obama's religion. It is Black Liberation Theology, which preaches hate. How about you look at some of the more outlandish statements by Reverand Wright.

"G** D*** America!" -- Rev. Wright whom was Obama's pastor for over 20 years.

Which is where, surprise, surprise the mainstream media tried to launch a distraction campaign to smear conservatives in order to get the Wright story off the air.

@Inuyasha

Reverend Wright may preach some silly stuff. But I would like you to show me something that makes liberation theology black or white or hateful. I do not really have a great deal of time for liberation theology but I would like to see some more grounds what you are saying.

It would be pointless because Rev. Wright doesn't scare or offend me. Any black man who lived through the 60s has a right to feel angry.

It should be remembered that Rev. Wright had also served his country in the marine corps. While he used harsh, angry language, one could argue he was being critical of our country for its failings; but that doesn't mean that he actually hates America.
And I'm certain Inuyasha is going to jump all over me for writing this, but I could care less.

I am referring to the kind of Black Liberation Theology that Obama's pastor for 20+ years embraced.

Then there are all of Obama's friends starting with Ayers, at what point is it no longer a coincidence to you that he happens to be friends with lunatics supporting radical ideology.

Uh swearing, "G** D*** America!" isn't exactly the language Pastors would usually use to criticize a country's failings. That is the kind of language one would use if they wanted this country destroyed. This wasn't just one speech where he said something stupid, there is a pattern. Oprah once went to that church but she left it not long after joining, if it had been Oprah running for President, this would therefore be a nonissue, cause she left the church years ago.

This isn't something that the mainstream media reported on, in fact they tried to cover all of this up.

What do you mean by that, if you mean that I'm going to point out where the conclusion you reached is in error, yes I will. If you mean I'm going to go out of my way to berate you, key question is why would I do that when you're sounding like you can actually be reasonable.

I asked you for a description of what makes liberation theology black or white or hateful. You simply cited; black hateful liberation theology. Why should I take these comments from you seriously?

Barack Obama's suddenly radioactive pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, has defended himself against charges of anti-Americanism and racism by referring to his foundational philosophy, the "black liberation theology" of scholars such as James Cone, who regard Jesus Christ as a "black messiah" and blacks as "the chosen people" who will only accept a god who assists their aim of destroying the "white enemy."

"If God is not for us and against white people," writes Cone, "then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill gods who do not belong to the black community."

Read more: Obama pastor's theology: Destroy 'the white enemy' http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=59230#ixzz1DadBYIvh

That doesn't sound like a religion of peace with religious scholars like James Cone now does it.

There you go again playing the race card, typical Liberal/Progressive tactic. Got news for you, only an idiot would believe a liberal when they call someone a racist anymore. Everyone whom has paid any attention knows that when a liberal can't win a debate they turn around and start calling people racists.

I wouldn't have a problem with a Budhist (sp?) being President, or someone whom is Jewish. Oaths and one's word means something in the Jewish Faith, whether the person they give their word to is of their religion or not. The issue I have with Atheism is that one could argue they would think the oath is meaningless cause they don't believe in what they are giving the oath to. Also I would take issue with a Muslim being President because of the fact it is okay to lie to an infidel if it advances the cause of Islam. That's just off the generic people not knowing anything else about the people running.

For me it is a matter of trust, that one is telling the truth when they take the oath of office. I'm sure there are Atheists and Muslims out there that would take the oath seriously, but if the only thing I knew about the individual was their religious affiliation, then I would not support a Muslim or Atheist. This is based on what I know of Islam and the fact that Atheists don't believe in the higher power so it is questionable if they would feel bound by their oath.

wtf? Religious affiliation doesn't mean s**t. Not everyone who is affiliated with religion even believes in the teaching of their religion. People do exploit their religious affiliation for social or political gain, so this double standard is just ret*d. And isn't the presidential oath about doing one's job as a president and upholding the Constitution, both of which has nothing to do with your religious affiliation?

I was saying if the only thing I had to go on is their religion.

The fact is that from a Jewish and Christian standpoint, one's oath (provided it isn't under duress) is to be kept. You make an oath and you keep your word doesn't matter if it is to someone of a different faith or not. Breaking your word is considered a sin that you have to answer to God over.

Under Atheism, one can argue that oaths are meaningless (that isn't to say there aren't many Atheists that hold their oaths as sacred). The idea is that they don't have any higher power to answer to for breaking their word.

Under Islam, it is okay to break your word to an infidel, as well as give false oaths to further advance the cause. So it would be perfectly okay for a Muslim to give the oath of office, then turn around and do everything he could to undermine and destroy this country. Furthermore he wouldn't feel any guilt doing it because it apparently is okay and even encouraged in their religion.

That isn't to say that an Atheist or Muslim should never be President, I'm just saying that if it was all I had to go on, I wouldn't trust them with the office.
