This group actively seeks confrontation...they want people to go after them because than they can sue and get the money that keeps them going based on civil liberty violations.

This is very true, but there are times when logic flies out the window and people just react.

The idea that everyone who is homophobic are just overcompensating for the fact that they themselves are in the closet.

People don't get it that to get these sickos to go away you have to ignore them...by fighting with them physically you are in fact helping them. They rely on the small segment that will react...they are evil filthy animals, but even they have constitutional rights in the U.S.

Plenty of people get it. All logical thought just disappears when faced with them.

And THAT is the power they have over people.

Hence the other thread about them, and the safety of their children at the protests, I imagine.

justifiably so in some cases involving the WBC, they literally tried to screw with funerals, i dont care what they did, you simply dont mess with something that personal

on a brighter note i would certainly try to get them to ridicule themselves in as many ways possible, have some fun at least.
as for violence, not even on the table, they may be vile and repulsive but they are human beings in the end.

It would be nice if people would just ignore them, but some people get really deeply offended, especially if they are picketing a loved ones funeral. I expect that it will get violent someday; the United States is a violent country

I am not sure I would consider them human beings as of right now...I would say they have been demoted to a diseased filthy rat species.

well dont they have every right to be offended?

while not particularly violent i do think some things simply warrants the speed at which violence can get things accomplished, libya is a great example, then one can worry about the consequences at a more oppertune time.

in a way you are right when you say ignoring them would be best, but it would also be at the expense of the emotional pain of many demographics, they even tried protesting comic-con for some arbitrary reason.

to be honest i dont care what emotional or intellectual damage might be done to WBC, they have been asking for it pretty consistently it appears, physical pain would be very unwarranted as it stands now, it seems that people can handle them pretty well peacefully.

besides people are having too much fun making fun of them

I dont know how it is over there in Denmark, but here in the U.S we have civil right groups who will defend the most atrocious evil behavior because of the Constitution. We can't just decide one day to physically attack the WBC or else we will be counter sued and they will get their media whoring attention they so desperately crave, including a nice payout from the city where their rights were violated. Believe me, I wish the most horrific death for these people...i hope they die of the worst form of cancer ever and they are in excruciating pain, but that is the extent of it..

Precisely. They know how to push buttons, and they will continue to do so.

They are human beings, but that wouldn't stop me from punching one if they picketed a loved one's funeral.

I know all of this logically, but I also know myself well enough to know I would go into meltdown mode.

Yes, they have every right to do what they're doing. We do not have the right not to be offended.
