Whenever its about ... religion I'm very certain that I'm right, most of the time, I'm never wrong.

Rubbish.

So's every other narcisist in the world

Are you really so special that your faith is better than Mr. Arabs faith, or Mr. Indians faith?

Actually, Luther believed in predestination, too. Lutheran churches did not follow that.

I don't think I believe it.

If i could buy the concept of an omnipotent and omniscient being - and i can't - i don't think I'd be able to then also buy the concept that this is all just some sort of clockwork mechanism.

An ultimate plan, sure, but implying that everything is going according to predetermined details of the plan implies things like the satan figure - if you believe in it, and i don't - being another tool of the plan.

I think this is why, as Jacob put it, theists - at least, angry theists - argue that their deity is a dick.

Myself, I don't see a reason to be angry at something that doesn't exist.

Isn't it a little ironic that woodss82 is essentially preaching after the way he has treated one of the members of these forums? I hesitate to post this, but I had to get this off my chest.

Not sure who/what you're talking about? But I definitely think predestination is in some ways, cop-out behavior. The poor are poor because God planned that. The Jews have been persecuted for millennium because it was God's plan, not human intolerance. I find the whole concept somewhat insulting in a way. I didn't know Luther was into predestination as well. But I'm not an ex-Christian or anything, I've never read the Bible, so I don't pretend to be an expert on the deep parts of the religion. I am somewhat versed in the history of the religion however

Personally, I believe there is a difference between the non-believer (the agnostic or the undecided/unsure one) and the one who has actually "heard" in a knowing way and yet turns away ... and I am inclined to believe each will be handled differently. But in the end, I doubt there is any "eternal torment", as such, to be forever suffered by every "non-believer".

I guess I am headed for punishment, then.

I do not claim to know what that "punishment" might be, but I staunchly defend your free-will right to make your own well-informed choice ...

"Let us hear the conclusion of the entire matter: Fear Elohim and guard His commands, for this applies to all mankind!
"For Elohim shall bring every work into right-ruling, including all that is hidden, whether good or whether evil."
(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

leejosepho seems the christian kind that does not believe in eternal torment, unlike other christians, which I wonder how many, wheter the majority believe this or not, that God will torture the unfaithful for eternity.

That's a very reasonable point of view. I hope that, should I find after my death, that I am still somehow in existence, it turns out I won't suffer all of eternity for not ever being part of a religion

What is God's reason to test faith?
Why is faith necessary?
Do you also consider the Qur'an a reliable source?
Were you raised to be Christian?
If you were raised Muslim do you believe you would be Christian right now?
