They are too regional. There is too much lopsided Democratic leanings in New England, New York, California, and about 5 or 6 other large urban areas. I hope and expect there would be a broader range, but few districts if any outside of these areas ever seem to fall Democratic.
Republicans are based too much in the South, West, and other primarily rural areas of the United States. The moral values of these conservative communities are not representative of
everyone's moral values. As much as the Christian Right likes to claim to be the movement of morality, it isn't. Secular and religious liberals have morals of their own; they just differ from conservative evangelical Christians on many points. As an independant liberal, I am not bound to any party's ideology; I have merely tended to vote Democratic because I believe the Republicans are leading this country in the wrong direction. My morality is one of personal responsibility (i.e., if it doesn't harm others, it should probably be legal) weighted with a concern for the well-being of everyone (i.e., a functioning social welfare system). I follow liberal Enlightenment principles: a rigorous separation of church and state, the free and open exchange of ideas of all types, peace, equality before the law, and equal opportunity in the pursuit of happiness and equal access to amendities. I believe others have the inherent right to disagree with my opinions and express their own opinions, and I do not find it necessary to call them unpatriotic for that.

Traits you cannot have in a leader:
Indecisive (Ex.: Kerry)
Poll Descisions- Let the Polls rule your every move (Ex.:Kerry)
Selfishness - (Jesse Jackson, Pat Buchanen) ones a glory hound the other thinks he right all the time
Immoral - Clinton (Hillary and Bill), Bob Packwood, Nixon (watergate), Ben Harrison (unlike in 2000, in late 1800's Republican stole election from Democrat Samuel Tilden), Joseph McCarthy
Ignoring Advice not that it always has to be heded, but a good lead must at least listen to good advice. [/b]
Whereas Sen. John Kerry may be too indecisive, President George W. Bush is too brash and unwilling to admit to his policy mistakes. There is also rampant corruption in the Bush administration: cronyism and behind-the-scenes dealing. Republican former House speaker Newt Gingrich was unfaithful to his wife and stepped down because of it. Republican House majority leader Tom DeLay has been instigated in a Texas ethics scandal. I really need not go on; Republicans aren't superior to Democrats in any way.
