Texas is also a bit of an odd duck due to it's oil. Like Alaska, Norway or Saudi Arabia. Their rainy day fund fills up every year with a % of proceeds from the sale of every barrel of oil produced in the state. When prices get high, Texas has fewer budget problems.

Only if we are formenting an Arab Spring in Iran, because that way we know the protestors/rebels don't have ties to Al Qaeda.
