He didn't do it in Nevada. Vitter broke the law; Weiner did not. And yet Weiner was the one who took a political fall. This is sufficient to refute any notions that the Democrats are given a free ride by the media on their alleged immorality.

At least Mr. Vitter engaged in heterosexual prostitution (as far as we know). If he had boned another fella, then his career would be kaput.

Also, Mr. Weiner's pictures of his weiner may have constituted pornography, and male pornography is a career-killer for politicians.

And it's also true that people in the public eye can be easily slandered with unproven charges. Even a falsehood can stick.

I had to look up Vitter, and the fact he's from Louisanna kinda explains the situation...

In a perfect world Vitter would be out too, unfortunately Louisanna is rather well known for corruption (has been cleaned up a lot by Governor Bobby Jindal, but looks like there still needs to be a lot more cleaning). Sad part is that he could be thrown out and then end up right back in the Senate because he'd probably be voted right back into office. It also wouldn't surprise me if Clinton was also one of the clients.

I suspect that having paid sexual relations with a member of the Clinton family would mark the beginning of the end of Mr. Vitter's career.
