Er?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_gain

Last I checked he wasn't selling stocks all over the place either.

In your world how does Warren Buffet make his money?
He is the 2nd richest person in America but
he takes no salary, receives no dividends and sells no stock
and He has no capital gains from any other source.
How does he buy lunch or pay for the gas in his car?

He has a lot of US treasury bonds too, which is nontaxable, he has money but it is tied up in stocks, so while he technically has the money it can't be taxed until he sells the stock.

I am sorry you quoted me so I assume that you meant to answer my questions
you have neglected to do so.

I did answer the question.

He's already made his money JakobVirgil so he has it in stocks and treasury bonds (the money you make off a US treasury bond cannot be taxed).

Really? Honestly?
Your answer is that Warren, the second richest man in america, made his money through T-bonds and uses them to fuel his vehicle and
buy his lunch?
Why don't you stop being a hypocrite and just say sure Warren will pay a little more in taxes
under the plan he proposes?
is it that hard to be an honest person?

under the scheme he proposes

He only has to take out enough money at a time to live off of, which he doesn't have to do much.

Seriously if he really wanted to help he could write a check of $49 billion dollars right now and still have a billion left over, nobody is stopping him.

It really was not fair.

Are you through with the juvenile theatrics?

Are you through lying?
If your views are so weak that your arguments are required to be lies
maybe you should change your views.

Looks like you aren't through with the juvenile theatrics, and JakobVirgil didn't I already make you look like a total idiot the last time you called me a liar?

No. You revealed yourself to be a total idiot.

And really, I'd prefer a state where every person who works can support themselves and their family without fear of the electricity and/or gas getting shut off for nonpayment, or fear of being financially destroyed by medical bills.

There are basically two ways that we can do that:

1: Pay a living wage
2: Don't pay a living wage and instead have a massive welfare state

Executive salaries go up and up and they complain that maybe they will have to move operations overseas because they don't make enough money in the USA. Maybe they should cut back on the multi-million-dollar bonuses if the company isn't making enough money?

The other option is what we have now - where more and more of the wealth is sequestered by the top 5% of earners and half the nation can't even qualify to pay income tax.

Problem with getting back to option 1, is employers are actually being punished for hiring American Citizens.

Fox News is not a credible news source. Employers are punished for hiring illegal migrants.

damn, inuyasha can't even find text to copy and paste anymore. I WILL NOT watch videos posted to fora. I can read a lot faster than some talking head can flap their gums.

I'm not claiming that every single regulation on the books today works to assure as many jobs for 'merkins as possible.

If "job creators" honestly think the government is standing in their way on that, well, that's why they have lobbiests, right?

The video was an interview of a ceo that had testified under oath before congress about the issue. Here is the video:

Have fun with watching 22 minutes, since you guys are so partisan you immediately dismiss Fox News.

Skimmed it.

Just a collection of republican talking points.

Found it odd that he asserted that infrastructure projects take resources away from more important projects without saying what those projects are or explaining the mechanism that would take the resources away.

I especially like the part where he says that we need to stick it to the working class by doing away with workplace safety laws.

And he also want's to get rid of anti-discrimination laws and minimum wages. It makes no sense. This a**hole's solution is about turning this country into a severly impoverished third world s**thole. How fast can you say race to the bottom?

Minimum wage hurts poor people way more than it helps them.

^ This!

The working poor is one of the biggest strains on our economy. They work 2, maybe 3 jobs and still can't afford rent, food, and utilities - let alone consumer goods. They don't pay taxes (can't afford them) and they don't contribute to the economy either because they lack any disposable income. Basically, the taxpayers are subsidizing the shortfall between what employers should be paying these workers and what they are actually being paid.

Our economy is based on demand. When a large portion of our citizens can't afford the basics, let alone the non-essentials that make our market go 'round, we're all screwed.

The problem is that they may earn it honestly but they've used that wealth to purchase legislation that lowers the taxes they should pay & cheat on their taxes (offshore safe havens, loopholes, exemptions, etc).

To put it bluntly, if all the laws passed that favor the wealthy elite were applicable to the avg. joe there would not be a problem. It isn't however hence a BIG problem.

The US has been a plutarchy dressed as a democracy since the 70's.

The worst form of dishonesty and corruption is The Bribe. It subverts government.

Honest folks don't pay bribes to government officials. And honest government officials do not accept bribes. The question is: are there any honest government officials?
