The issue is how you draw the line between attacking a person and attacking a philosophy. It's not exactly cut and dried. It's hard to attack an opinion/argument/affiliation without the holder of said opinion/argument/affiliation interpreting the attack as a personal insult and reacting with butthurtness.

That's why I like GNU/Linux. Its creation wasn't based in a boring, vertical hierarchy, and it works. This should be a shocking realization to anyone who thinks stuffy corporations are necessary for creating something as sophisticated as an operating system.

I'm interested in the open source ecology movement too.

What about those of us who are split?

I'm fairly conservative fiscally and in matters involving national security.
I'm fairly liberal regarding social concerns.

I want government to stay the hell out of my wallet, my bedroom, my diet, my spirituality. Do your job and protect me from enemies both foriegn and domestic. Uphold the consititution. Maintain a decent infrastructure and stay the hell out of my way. Oh, and I can say (pretty much) whatever I want to, but I expect people to hold me personally accountable for it. If I say something mean about *insert minorities here*, I can...but I have to deal with the consequences. If I want salt on my french fries, don't dare to tell me I can't have it if I'm providing it myself. If I decide I need a 64 oz cola to sit through a movie, that's my right.
