The european problem stems from the fact that countries like Greece spend like drunken sailors and don't have the economic productivity level to warrant such spending.

To top it off, those countries don't have control of their own monetary policy either.

The truth is resources are scarce. And because they are scarce, the must be allocated in some way. Therefore, we have a price mechanism.
