Maybe not now, but remember shortly after 9-11 when the USA declared war and called on everyone else to follow in line behind them? Canada and France initially said no... we god "freedom fries" and Canada-hate for a while after that.

Glad that much is over... but pity we're still over there.
If it helps I always called them French fries even shortly after 911 freedom fries doesnt really have a good ring to it imo I just call them French Fries or just fries! I havent tried them with gravy yet I should though hehe!

Hate? They make fun of us for being knuckledraggers and we mock them for being harmless, but hate?

A while back on a different chat forum I was talking about wanting to move to Canada and I got nasty responses like "nobody wants your American cancer".

For me that would be all the more reason to move there.
"American cancer"......gotta love it. :D

We don't hate Americans we just don't have all that much in common with them. All and all there are cultural differences that are growing everyday between us and I'm not just talking about "religion" or "healthcare" it goes deeper than that... A lot of it is mentality.

I feel like I have more in common with a Brit or Aussie than an American in someways.

I wish I could try to explain the differences properly but it's kind of hard to convey into words.

I think it's more like Canadians spend a lot of time ragging on America, where as Americans don't really think of Canada much at all, at least until we run out of wood of course.

lol Canadians rarely spend time ragging on Americans. Don't let what the people say on the internet fool you, in the real world Americans are almost never mentioned.

But.. From what I've learned about Americans online and from the ones that have come up here to live is that there are differences between us. Ten years ago Inthought we were both exactly the same but now I know better.

Living in Michigan, I have heard a lot from Canadians, and I have family living in Windsor.

One Canadian co-worker was envious of our much lower taxes.
Many Canadians cross the border back-and-forth every day for our jobs.
Many come for our health care to avoid their notorious long wait times for surgery.

So, Canadian envy of America, not hatred is a better description?

Such a small number of Canadians cross the border for healthcare per year. The top hospitals in the states (mayo, Hopkins ect) were surveyed as to how many Canadians they saw in a year and the number was lower than 60.

I am a 25 year old Cancer survivor and I received absolutely outstanding care in Ontario. My wait times were zero and I got MRI's or PET scans within days or weeks. Don't believe false news outlets about our healthcare situation, it's all a lie. Wait times are minimal for serious illness.

Canadians aren't jealous, as I said we're just "different"

I've yet to meet an American who expresses any kind of hate for Canadians or a Canadian who expresses any kind of hate for Americans.

They don't, and when it appears they do it's just the national equivalent of sibling rivalry.
